Shoot 'em up with the 3rd game in the Gundemonium Collection series. Hitogata Happa is considered one of the hardest doujin style shooters ever! – Unlike the first two games, Hiitogata Happa is a vertical scrolling upward shooter, the action in this game is a visual mish-mash of weaponry that will give your senses a total overload. Threatened by an invading army who is terrorizing the land, Rosa enlisted the magic of a witch, Kreutzer – who has charmed her own army of magic dolls, each with extreme power and crazy weapons. Use these dolls to take revenge on the invaders as you blast through six, intense stages. Choose from twelve playable characters (four unlockable), each with their own special abilities, and unlock secret game features.

Good god is this cool if only it was somewhat possible to have a 0.1111111 chance of clearing. The weird systems make it super unique though and i appreciate that.

Threads a fine line between clever gameplay design and a hidden deathwish for the player. However, you equally overnumber them most of the time so it evens out.
Fighting the true last boss on the highest difficulty and coming out on top was a fever experience.

Ain't no shmup like a Japanese indie shmup!

A danmaku (bullet hell/curtain) shooter that features an interesting mechanic whereby the player must wait some time for a meter to charge, arming a bomb in the player character. If the player character is then rammed into an enemy, an area of effect explosion will appear on screen for several seconds, doing massive damage to anything that enters its area.

The game has 8 main playable characters and a handful of secret characters too, sporting a wide variety of standard danmaku play-styles. Some minimize the power of the bomb while maximizing attack power (such as one that shoots rocket fists slow and straight) or maximize the bomb while minimizing shot power (like Leaf, a weak scattershot shooter with a mega powerful bomb that can decimate bosses).

This means there's a lot of replayability -- 4 difficulties (2 of which you'll never beat, probably) and a secret mode allowing you to challenge the game with only one doll type at a time at your disposal, means there's a lot of stuff to tinker with and try.

The game's a little short, like most danmaku are, because the main joy is really trying to conquer the more difficult modes, but if you just want a run through of your own and don't like to suffer, try easy mode ("Euridice" mode) and after practicing the main mechanic, you'll probably get through with only a few deaths as you experiment with the various dolls.

I had fun playing through this mode, both the story and a quick run of solo mode with my favorite doll, and I'll probably come back and give other difficulties and dolls a try later.

4 - Great: A solid, memorable game with standout features

insanely hard. the kamikaze mechanic is pretty neat
