An absolute disaster on Switch. This is easily one of the worst ports ever made, up there with Ark. It is SO BAD, that even the story mode is borderline unplayable. The final chapter in particular is so horribly optimized. Loading screens every 5 seconds, because there are at least 10 fights and the game dosent know how to load it all in. Even the pre-rendered and full motion video cutscenes are laggy and unstable. It is truly awful.

The loading in particular has been awful since day 1 and it still isn't fixed. Even the most basic 1v1 takes up to a minute to load. I don't understand how they could butcher this game so much. The textures are truly awful, even worse than you'd imagine. And some textures just refuse to load. In the story, Liu Kang was bald for me. Shang Tsung lost his eyebrows. Sindel's hair is so bugged that it just clips and the texture hangs mid hair and detaches from her body. Reptile almost always has 2 mouths.

The story itself isn't that bad, but there really isn't anything going on. It's super small scale and dosent take full advantage of its premise. It has good character moments, but they aren't anything particularly memorable or interesting.

The gameplay is fine, and I can see why many would like it. It has some variety with the air combos and Kameos. But it dosent feel fun enough, for one, to invest a lot of time into. And furthermore, what content is there to actually enjoy this gameplay with? The board game mode is decent on paper, but it's all just fights with hardly any variety. So this game gets stale fast.

The roster is pretty bad this time. A lot of the newcomers have really boring designs and don't feel as cool as many of the new ones from 11.

The most egregious thing is the monetization. 10$ fatalities on top of a 70 dollar game on top of needing to pay 25$ for a season pass with the dlc characters. Even THEN, most of the costumes, the GOOD ones, are borderline impossible to get without spending money. It is so greedy, so vile, so unfun to experience. This is barely a game, but rather a money pit that they are trying to milk us for. And the Switch version is a great example of this: an unfinished buggy disaster that they released anyways to see how many would bite.

I am happy it's numbers are low compared to other fighting games and I hope Netherrealm learns their lesson from this experience. Because I'm never buying another one of their games again, no matter how cool your roster or guest characters are, until they change their buisness philosophy.

Yeah this game should not exist it looks and runs bad but also kind of impressive that a current-gen game is running on a 10-year-old mobile soc
