Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection

released on Feb 26, 2008

Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection faithfully recreates eight of the most memorable tables from the golden age of pinball in photorealistic 3D. Working closely with Williams to ensure authenticity of each of the games, the collection is highlighted by some of the most popular and innovative Williams pinball tables, including Gorgar, the first-ever talking pinball machine, Black Knight, which introduced "Magna-Save" and Bonus Ball, and Space Shuttle, which took the pinball industry by storm in 1984. Every table has been meticulously recreated to bring players the visuals, sound effects and gameplay that made these games legendary successes. Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection harkens back to the arcades of the 1980s. Players begin Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection with access to four pinball tables, and the remaining four tables are unlocked as the game progresses. Players can spend as little as two minutes on a quick pinball challenge, or delve deeper into the game, gaining rewards in a token-based system as they unlock each of the pinball tables. Single-player Arcade and Challenge modes provide hours of solo entertainment, and a Multiplayer mode lets players face each other head-on.

This is still the a great way to play these Williams machines ever since they've been stripped out of The Pinball Arcade. Sure, a lot of them are on FX3 and VPX, but this is more of a quick and easy option. The physics are a bit lenient and the PS3 version predictably drops frames during multiball, but overall it feels solid. The bonus features like the guides and flyers are nice, too, but ultimately the game feel is most important and I think it's pretty good here. Also, I have to mention the surprisingly stellar soundtrack, with some tracks borrowed from the Gottlieb Collection and some new ones. Really great stuff.

Get this for 360 or PS3, since those are the only two ports that have Medieval Madness and Arabian Nights. The game performs better on real 360 hardware, but it emulates better on RPCS3. So, pick up a 360 copy or download the PS3 version. You don't need much horsepower to run this one.

my aunt's wii game collection was very based

Williams is perhaps my favorite pinball machine manufacturer and this game does a great job of presenting one of the best selections of Williams pinball tables across different decades, including my all-time favorites such as Tales of the Arabian Nights and Medieval Madness.

The layout, lights, and sounds of the tables are very well done and definitely resemble the real ones as much as possible.

This is the best virtual pinball game ever made. Williams has always had my fave tables and there's so many iconic tables (13 in all) like Tales of the Arabian Nights, Medieval Madness or Taxi (Plus 10 more) to spend hours upon hours on and you can bet I did just that back in the day.
