Last boss is kinda bullshit but otherwise this is perfect. It's like if Treasure made a Burnout game.

I was expecting a Ridge Racer rip-off and got a weird vehicular combat shmup-like thing where instead of shooting you bump into other vehicles with a boss at the end of the stage. Pretty awesome.

This is probably one of the most exhilarating 40 minutes I have spent in recent times. It's one of those arcade games that would pull a decent crowd if you're doing really well. It's basically a mix of Outrun and vehicular combat, as in hitting other vehicles in high speed. The sense of speed is great, as you would expect from a good Outrun clone, and having to quickly dispatch enemy vehicles before the time runs out is a fun variation to the typical checkpoint based gameplay, even if the mechanics are a bit too simple in most encounters. For the most part it's pretty easy, especially once you realize the boost is best used for closing short gaps, but the game does have a huge difficulty spike in the very last level. The game runs and looks great, although I feel like the soundtrack and car sound effects could have been better. Definitely check this out if you have the chance.

I bought this on a whim for £10 - Japanese version. It’s super fast 3D racing with an emphasis on smashing into things. You can smash other vehicles and obstacles on the road for bonus points, or you can speed past to make sure you arrive at the boss with plenty of time to smash them to bits. It’s pretty fun. The graphics were average (ugly) for PS1. The music sounded good but it was very quiet in the mix with no option to increase it. The handling was pretty good - very arcade style loose and forgiving. There was some anime portraits and dialog but I didn’t feel like I missed much story. I turned them off in the end.

Cleared all 3 stages on easy with J.Lang in the red Spanker.
Cleared all 6 stages (eventually) with Blody in the green Buffalo.
There’s also a time attack mode for longevity.

Can't believe they had raytracing on PS1
