Space Quest 1: The Sarien Encounter is an old DOS science fiction adventure game, developed by Sierra On-Line, designed by Mark Crowe - Scott Murphy and published by Sierra On-Line in 1986. It's available for download. Space Quest 1: The Sarien Encounter is also part of the Space Quest series.

Still has a lot of the same design issues as the original but you can actually see the glass shard in this version plus you can skip the arcade sequence and move through the gambling part pretty quickly. I think the new graphics are really nice too. I know the designers of the original hate this version but it's a better game
