Spartan X, known in North America by the Kung-Fu Master port, is a 1984 beat 'em up arcade game developed and published in Japan by Irem. It was later published in North America by Data East, without the movie license. The Japanese version was based on the Jackie Chan movie Wheels on Meals, known as Spartan X in Japan, and credited "Paragon Films Ltd., Towa Promotion", who produced the film upon which it was based. The game is considered by many to be the first beat 'em up video game, and contains elements of Bruce Lee's Game of Death.

Holy FFFFFFUCK that's a hard game!

Very brutal proto-beat em up. I'm a sucker for the Jackie Chan theming, and landing hits feels good, but it is impossible for me to play—too easy to get ganged up on and killed. Feels of a lineage with Renegade/Kunio Kun and Altered Beast, but also feels a lot like a Rolling Thunder/Shinobi. Two paths diverge...

Average walk down the street in Bradford

Just thinking about how methodical and rhythm-based early beat'em ups used to be. If you put a streak counter and add more health into this, it wouldn't look bad alongside the My Friend Pedro's of today.

Dándole vueltas a lo metódicos y rítmicos que solían ser los primeros beat'em up. Si pones un contador de muertes seguidas y agregas más salud al personaje, este juego apenas desentonaría con los My Friend Pedro de hoy.
