carson sent a gif of someone killing themself when he brought this website up so i made an account

Extremely gratifying to play. This is the first shmup I ever really got into, and I suppose it's because the roguelike quality makes it so accessible. Just boot it up and have a go. For ten minutes or two hours. Just round after round.

It's a fun 2D shootem up but making it a roguelike was a bad decision in my opinion, it would have been beter as a 10h game through different levels and more standard progression. The enemies are spongy and their configurations get repetitive very soon. The loot system to get weapons and upgrades isn't very satisfying either because you only can carry 2 of them and there is some pokemonesque type advantages chart but enemy's weaknesses and strenghts feel too random for their own good.

Procedural generation and shmups are rarely a good mix, and Steredenn is no exception. Enemies/bosses are mostly bland and wayyyyyyyyyy too spongy for the game to feel satisfying, in large part due to the weapon elemental typing that doesn't fit with the random placement of weapons and encounters.

There is a scoring system but there's no reason to care about it because of the procedural generation making it mostly random. The sprite art is decent and the soundtrack isn't bad however so there's still a couple of hours worth of slight fun to be had here though.
