i was gonna hop on here and DOG ON this shit hard but then that started subsiding and i found myself retyping this because i was realizing.. i DID have some fun with this
Totally Spies is one of those shows where I remember really enjoying it despite not being able to tell you a damn thing about the show itself aside from the basic pitch, liking the whole cast and that people are Very Weird about these girls

I was stoked 2 see that there was actually a game that wasnt just a flash game or something on cartoon network...

...

and then it was more like.. a bunch! of cartoon network flashgames LMFAO

Minigame collection type shit usually has more of a tendency to suck especially when youre not a kid in a car ride riding the high off of your favorite show, but this is honestly so inoffensive at times i cant think of a moment where i was Truly Like "this game is complete shit"
cause some bits are Shit-TY but other times its chill
Like i enjoy the pseudo battletoads rope shit you do with Alex
the platforming bits with Clover are FINE
And uhhhh... I mean the puzzles are all so incredibly simple..
this is O K
for licensed games you can do a hell of a lot worse

it could be ONE shitty platformer
or ONE shitty abysmal spy game where everything is broken

instead its in the vibes of like
i enjoy the spy girls teaching videogame motor skills practically type shit

like i enjoyed this even if im way out of the age skill ceiling atp

Also i always thought it was fucking stupid how the girl in red is named Clover while the girl in green is named Sam
it made me think about if there was actually red four leaf clovers in the world and then i looked up if there was one on my dads shitty dinosaur dell computer when i was like 8 and there was no results n tht just made me saltier

Now yes I did choose this for Cringetober 2022, but that's more to do with how often people would look at this series and judge it negatively where as many people like myself enjoyed this and even uncovered...as a friend would call it...people's "Special Interests" in regards to a lot of the suggestive situations that the girls find themselves in the numerous torture methods and when you look back you wonder how it got past the censors...

Now the game itself...there's not much to really hate here at all.

The story follows the show, with each level being an episode of the TV show, including their first mission where their handler/Mission Briefer was playing the role for them to fulfil their test assignment before getting involved in real missions. I did always love his terrible puns and they make a come back in this game considering some are copied from the episode and the other can be in regards to descriptions of the gadgets themselves, which you get given to you, much like the show, as if some psychic knows exactly which one is going to be useful and which one might make it too easy. Even Q from James Bond didn't have that much foresight!

The gameplay is a mixture of platforming/puzzle platforming along with mini-games scattered in that are unique to each stage, including the final mission of the game where you travel in a submarine and fight a villain in a mech! Deaths are represented with a image from the shows where the girls messed up and success is shown with the three of them jumping together in a victory hug!

Like Disney Princess, this was actually quite enjoyable, but it isn't quite as good as that game was. That game I was expecting crap but got a really solid platformer with unique stages and here we have a solid platformer, but not much else I can add beyond that if you're a fan of the show, you'll like this too!

Stream/Gameplay

Unlike some people, I am not ashamed to admit that I like this game and the show that it is based on. Well, okay, 'like' is a bit of a strong word. At its core, it's a collection of mini games. Each level has about 4 or 5 sections in it, and you're either doing some rhythm mini game, or playing surgeon, or trying to string down while avoiding obstacles - they're mini games. Nothing much to it, but it's a decent licensed game.

Oh yeah, also when you unlock a secret, the game tells you to go to the official TS website to see it... Just don't do it.

O jogo não te força a nada, mas eu peguei todos os secretos. Muito bom!

Yep, I’m really reviewing this. I think the only reason I tried this was because I saw some video talking about a Wii game based off this series that was pretty bad. I saw it had a few handheld games and was just that bored that I gave it a go. Totally Spies was some 2000s cartoon that I think I watched? I actually can’t fully remember any episode if I’m being honest. I know it nowadays for apparently being really fetishy. Idk if that’s actually exaggeration but it’s all I ever hear about it now. Now for the actual game, surprisingly inoffensive and not even bad.

Totally Spies for the GBA is a game that tries many gameplay styles from the likes of multiple machines/vehicles, platforming, and even off the wall like a generic rhythm game. Sadly the game never really goes past the meter of mediocrity as nothing is ever given time to cook in the oven. This is probably due to it being a license game which is a shame but I was surprised it’s not too awful. While it never does anything in the area I’d call good, I wouldn’t really call any of it bad, it’s more just boring at times. You’ll have to do 5 stories that I’m guessing are based on episodes of the show and you’ll have 3 missions for each with a 4th one on the final episode.

The game is also very generous with checkpoints. You not only have no lives meaning infinite lives but it’s very easy to get checkpoints. Missions that have you doing a certain amount of whatever the game wants will checkpoint you immediately when you even do just one of them. This does mean there’s barely any punishment for failing for the most part but the game is still pretty easy regardless and you’ll have it done in less than an hour. It’s probably good it’s not too hard because if they expected you to put a lot of effort in platforming stuff with Alex then I’d probably hate it. Seriously, why does her jump when standing have such delay? There’s not even mandatory combat and when there are enemies, it’s no issue to beat them with just 3 measly punches. This game also has an obsession with you having to press a specific combination of buttons to hack or destroy something, it’s even how you defeat the final boss. Lastly there are secrets you can find, they apparently gave you something if you went to the official website but it seems to be dead nowadays so who knows what it gave you.

The graphics are nothing special and have that personal problem for me where a lot of GBA games just look kind of bad on emulators. It’s not actually the game’s fault but just something I’d point out. There’s a lot of screenshots that are very pixelated from the show and there’s surprisingly a different fail screen for every single mission which I kind of love that detail. Otherwise it’s nothing special in the graphics department and honestly the face portraits for the UI and when a girl talks is kind of ugly. The music is nothing special though I kind of love the title screen music, idk why. Also screw the submarine level because the noise your submarine makes is so obnoxious and plays constantly. Also the girls just share the same voice clips which is rather odd like could they not give them unique grunts?

Yeah, in the end it’s just your standard license game that could be worse but you get what’s expected for the time. Did I enjoy my time with it? Uhhh idk kind of? I didn’t really suffer or anything but I’ll probably forget about it sometime soon outside of me seeing the game in my ranking list. There are more Totally Spies games out there and should I play them? Maybe, probably not though. I would just advise you to ignore this game unless you like the show but I’m sure you’ve played the game by now if you were a fan.

I will not go into detail about why I played this.
