Virtua Cop

released on Sep 01, 1994

Players assume the role of police officers in a first-person perspective and use a light gun to shoot criminals and advance through the game, with penalties for shooting civilians. The players could also shoot powerups that grants him a weapon or a life. The weapon is lost if the player is hit, but not if he shoots a civilian. Virtua Cop was notable for its use of polygonal graphics, which were subsequently used in both House of the Dead and Time Crisis, instead of the two dimensional sprites that were popular for previous games in the same genre. It is also notable for being one of the first games to allow the player to shoot through glass. Its name derived from this graphical style, which was previously used in Virtua Fighter, Virtua Striker and Virtua Racing.

I can't believe that i was loving this game when i was a kid xD

A simple, but fun on-rails first-person shooter, that can get kinda hard by the end, especially with how focused I had to get to not lose all of my credits.
In addition, the soundtrack is really, really good. Definitely makes you feel like a badass cop!

The soundtrack goes really hard, while house of the dead allowed me to shoot my bullets like crazy, vcop has an accuracy system attached to it, meaning you can't miss any shots if you want a high score. Both vcop and HOTD have different things to offer and for that reason I give it the same rating as hotd. I loved this game.

The second stage proved to be more challenging than the third one. Additionally, I found the requirement to press the button twice for a recharge a bit taxing on the thumbs. Poor hostages, I accidentally shot so many during my playthrough.
