Pretty cool game. And a great concept. Managed to beat all the three levels individually but couldn't beat the all at once to get to the final level. But I don't think I will even try, I am fine with how much fun I had without that :D

I can't believe that i was loving this game when i was a kid xD

The soundtrack goes really hard, while house of the dead allowed me to shoot my bullets like crazy, vcop has an accuracy system attached to it, meaning you can't miss any shots if you want a high score. Both vcop and HOTD have different things to offer and for that reason I give it the same rating as hotd. I loved this game.

The second stage proved to be more challenging than the third one. Additionally, I found the requirement to press the button twice for a recharge a bit taxing on the thumbs. Poor hostages, I accidentally shot so many during my playthrough.

Played with the Sinden Lightgun

Very clean and coherent light gun game, which is a rarity.

While most lightgun games involve the player shooting as fast and as constant as possible, Virtua Cop lands on the other side of the spectrum, where the focus is about accuracy and timing, and this is very satisfying!

Levels are neatly designed to where you can really get into a flow-state and just nail shots, getting high accuracy feels great, although back in the arcades if your gun wasn't aligned properly this game would've been a nightmare.

The aesthetics are of a classic and charming 80's cop movie, and the music also fits this bill. It enhances the gameplay loop quite a bit.

Virtua Cop is quite simple as far as lightgun games go, but I think that simplicity is very refined and the game is just a very enjoyable play through. I would recommend this game, it's on the upper end of the genre.

Simple fun. Nothing wrong about it. Will be better enjoyed if played with a friend.

the first game built entirely around the camera trolling the player. big fan of the lagging when the music loads mid-shootouts too

completed on default settings (gun looseness 9, life 5, continue 5)

As basic as rail shooters go. Still a fun time, though.

A simple, but fun on-rails first-person shooter, that can get kinda hard by the end, especially with how focused I had to get to not lose all of my credits.
In addition, the soundtrack is really, really good. Definitely makes you feel like a badass cop!

Its aight. Def not as trigger happy as a lot of other light gun games, as its more about accuracy than firepower. It does make the game a bit more on the easier side of things which honestly aint too bad in its own right. I'd imagine it would just take a bit of memorization and practice to get a 1CC rather than being a huge difficulty slog. The police aesthetic doesnt really do much for me tho ngl. The saturn port is just as good as the arcade version so that's neat, id highly suggest watching my boi pandamoniums documentary on it to get all the deep details on that n whatnot. Its a fun short lil light gun romp, what else can i really say

Pretty fun rail shooter with an interesting reloading mechanic and the ability to see who's about to shoot you. Biggest critic is that the enemies, somehow, absolutely never miss. Like reverse Stormtroopers.

There's a slower, more deliberate pace in Virtua Cop than found in later lightgun games. I find that the pace and mechanical simplicity (just point and shoot) allows the game to act like a pseudo gateway drug for the fine-tuning of runs that the genre demands. It holds up.

One of my favorite games ever made and one of the first lightgun games I have been able to beat on a single credit. While the cop theme may be bland the game's stellar use of colors and music helps give it a fantastic presentation that stays strong today while also having that masterful Sega 90s arcade game design. It's easy to overlook today but there's a reason this wound up being the basic design blueprint of every lightgun game after it and arguably one of the most influential games of all time.

Pretty fun light gun shooter.

Having played Virtua Cop 2 all the time as a kid only now did I realize there were other games in the series.
