Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm too young for this. I don't know what's going on.

Tried to hard to "innovate" the franchise because people felt the last game wasn't different enough. That's the thing with change, it has to make sense and be good. Change for the sake of it is SLOP. In an ironic attempt to rectify a very small mistake in the last game, they made too much of a bigger one. Not a bad game, and lorewise it makes a lot of sense. But at this point, this wasn't XCOM. This was trying to be some bootleg CaC. Slop.

Ugly. Janky. Clunky. Opaque.

It's unhelpful and unintuitive. It's clearly unfinished and unrealized, falling quite short of its original development vision. It's cold and unfeeling - you're the lab rat and it's the scientist. It would be impossible for new players to pick this up.

A pity. It's the best strategy game ever made.

Weird game. It's got the skeleton of old XCOM, but a whole new look and feel. There was a coating of Win95-ness that tainted the general aesthetic, but I loved the whole city setting. The aerial combat was really good fun too, played like an RTS,

I played this mostly in the optional real-time mode, because there was one alien that always messed me up when turn-based. Started dozens of campaigns, but never finished it as the alien dimension always bugged out for me. I might go back and try again.
