For the first installment in this long running series. It was pretty good. The gameplay was very unique and definitely was something new for its time. It was a fun time running through this game in co-op. The co-op campaign actually has substance. It was like it was built for co-op with the different paths and choice you could make. The story however was kind of lacking. I don't think it's the easiest story to follow on the first playthrough. It was also pretty cheesy in a few areas. With one part in Act 3 really being forced where you apparently "slip" and "fall". I said if something happened like that again I was gonna drop this rating one whole star. Thankfully that was the last of it, but this series is on thin ice from here on out. I'd say Gears 1 has held up fairly well. The graphics aren't stellar but it isn't completely blindness inducing. Solid game, Epic Games... I played this game, so make a new Fortnite Zoey skin now!

Hard to follow story where I didn't really know what was going on
the boss fight at the end was kinda mid and the character only showed up like twice in the game beforehand

and thats really where the list of negatives end

the style and atmosphere of this game is pretty damn amazing and really feels like a war torn world

the characters are all fun and cool

and the gameplay is so incredibly unique and pretty fun even if confusing at first
