The first Age of Empires holds up better than people give it credit for... it's just overshadowed by its sequel.

Played this game for hours on my grandfather's computer as a kid. I still remember all the cheats.
Really good RTS game, set the stage for many others to come, like Age of Empires II, which is one of my favorites.

Good start to the franchise, but as soon as AoE2 dropped it immediately became irrelevant.

I played this game only as a child for 3 years straight. The random skirmish mode just had so much gameplay in it.
