This came out on my birthday. It's also mostly just fine.

its a shame such a great game led to so many shitty sequels

This was the first game I ever used Gamefly for

Really fun and the best NSMB entry, but its been devalued by the rest of the subseries.

Me divirtio bastante en su tiempo, aunque lo recordaba mas bonito, era entretenido ponerle hacks y tenia buen multiplayer

Fun nostalgic adventure. Kind of easy though

The first game I've ever owned, and it still holds up. I miss my childhood and playing this with my friends.

I really liked a lot of stage gimmicks unique to this game and also the blue shell powerup.

It has its charm, but it started a trend of continuous, generic and cookie cutter Mario side-scrolling platformers that doesn't see an end to this day. That's not to say the game isn't fun, but it lacks staying power to make it stand up to its predecessors.

Very fun when i was little. Now its just not the same. Still GOATED

Just a simple, fun platformer that stays fresh throughout. It's simple visuals are far more charming than the stail look of the later games.

Gosto do nível dos fantasmas mas nunca consegui passar daí ahaha (tinha 7 anos)

My childhood mario title. Unfortunate that it defined the newer mario titles, but I still like replaying this game. I am so conflicted with the new blue shell power up because it both the worst power up and best power up. What was pretty annoying though is the requirement of the mini mushroom, the worst powerup to ever exist, and use it to unlock other worlds by defeat certain bosses with it. The mega mushroom was fine I guess, it was only used to obtain more 1ups and pretty much it. Overall, the game is alright and a relaxing breeze for a playthrough for the most part.

These days the original New Super Mario Bros is nothing special, but it was a treat during a time when there were no other titles like it (unfortunately that's no longer the case now). Still fun but not very fulfilling to play through, I'd probably recommend NSMB Wii over this.

Feels like this one doesn't have much identity anymore, but it's still really solid nonetheless.

Played a gross amount of hours of this based game.

kinda hard to rank a 2d mario game but its still great and provides unending nostalgia

The first of the NSMB games and I think it's alright.

New Super Mario Bros was the first game I ever played on the DS. And it's fun. With amazing controls, tons of worlds to go through, and an overall adventure I'll never forget

The game is fun already, but the minigames... paradise

Though this series eventually got really old, this one still holds up really well.

Outside of how ugly this game is it's actually kind of perfect? It's weird because it looks like such a hackjob at a glance, but that's way underselling it. It's the classic Mario formula, but streamlined in all the right ways.

Less vertical space is used, but this just means secrets are on the main path, almost always in sight, with a clever platforming challenge being the only thing between you and them. This has you constantly making mental notes to come back later even as you power through otherwise short levels.

The levels being so short makes it perfect for a handheld, with your next good stopping point never being more than a minute or two away.

This brisk pacing also extends to the progression. Worlds are on the shorter side but usually packed full of of offshoots for more dedicated players. Some worlds aren't even accessible unless you find secret exits, creating a shorter overall campaign than most Mario games without actually sacrificing any content. You can knock it out in an afternoon or you can spend far longer completing everything.

The power up selection has also been streamlined. The usual flying power up is absent in favor of a much more direct "skip the level" button: The Mega Mushroom. Less experienced players get an out on some harder challenges while getting to feel like they were the ones outsmarting the game by keeping one in their pockets.

The blue shell is going to be a much more fun item for Mario vets, since it lets you exploit the shell physics we all know like the back of our heads to pull off some cool, speedy tricks.

Mario's base moveset has also been expanded with the triple jump. It incentivizes running at every challenge full tilt so you can wring some extra height at the cost of control, contributing to the brisk pacing and giving experienced players a way to heighten the tension.

It's delightful. I could see why they had trouble topping this one. There wasn't much to do besides clean up the visuals and we all know they're never budging on that.

The fact that this game is as good and as vanilla as it is never fails to astound me. Like it's really good and looking back on it, It didn't any gimmicks, they just made a game that was so well crafted that it didn't need anything else except itself.

It’s good but help the graphics r so badddd

Sympa, premier jeu que j'ai "speedrun" (j'avais 7ans)
