Good atmosphere with unbearable gameplay

I wanted to try this game because I really like the art direction and this nightmarish, hellish, psychedelic types of visuals/graphics.
And, while this game does indeed feature that, the gameplay is just not my cup of tea. It's one of those survival horror games, that you have to hide at all times and play super meticulously. I just don't really enjoy this genre.

This game's artistic depiction of hell is masterful, and worth playing through just for that alone. It truly feels like you are traveling in a dimension not made by man, and gives a similar feeling to exploring alien planets, except this of course has loads of esoteric spirituality vibes and gave me a good dose of existential dread.
It mostly feels like you are traveling in a place you are truly not meant to see, except when it gets edgy for edgy's sake. I can imagine they had a lot of fun coming up with the most screwed up ideas and depictions.
Be aware however that the gameplay is... bland. And a bit sloppy & buggy. I lost the will to continue and just watched a playthrough after I was about 75% finished with the game.

Despite the incredible hokiness and splatterhouse fun on the unlockable succubus mode, nothing can entirely save the game from its dredgingly slow pace

Die Hölle extrem und sehr atmosphärisch dargestellt. Soundkulisse ist top. Einzelne kleinere Story Inszenierungen wirken teilweise zufällig reingestreut, das man schnell daran vorbei läuft oder in die falsche Richtung schaut. Steuerung ist mit dem Steam Controller in Ordnung, man bleibt trotzdem an den ein oder anderen Stellen Level bedingt hängen. Es gibt manchmal komische Rücksetzungspunkten, wenn man wo lang läuft, wo hin einen das Spiel aber erstmal nicht lassen will. Glaube die Uncut Version hat dem Spiel gut getan, kam gar nicht weit genug die geschnittene Fassung zu spielen. Die wäre mitunter sehr verstümmelt gewesen. Insgesamt dennoch ein gutes ungewöhnliches Spiel.
