Amazing sequel, not only graphically, with minor details like snow appearing on the armour, but also the gameplay is much better and the combat is way smoother. The rush-down combos are also very fun, beating everyone to a pulp like the true Batman way. The boss fights are fun. I loved the Ra's al Ghul fight.
Combat and stealth are incredibly polished, bosses are leagues better than Asylum, the only part of City to be mixed on is the story. While interesting, it's more scattered than a broken vase. There's plenty of side content for me to clean up, but I could honestly spend hours just messing around and learning the more in depth combat before I move onto Knight. Great game, highly recommend!
It improves and expands on everything Arkham Asylum did. The story is pretty good and the gameplay is much more refined than its predecessor. Arkham City is a good map, though it lacks the atmosphere that Arkham Asylum had, and despite being a prison, it's a beautiful city with distinct districts.
Now, was it really necessary for this game to have 440 Riddler trophies? I don't think so. It's a hassle.
Catwoman DLC is good and while she was fun to play, navigating through Arkham as her wasn't, I really really hate how her quick-time events just slows you down. I do wish we got more sections with Catwoman though.
Harley Quinn's Revenge is good, but nothing too noteworthy, it was cool playing as Robin tho, I do wish we could've seen more of him in the main game.

In an era where video game sequels seem to adopt the philosophy of bigger and louder, Arkham City takes this approach far more intelligently. It takes all of the mechanics that made Asylum so great and fine-tunes them to near perfection. The world is bigger but not so bloated as to lose the thick atmosphere this series is known for. The world is dense, it's detailed and it feels alive in a way very few open worlds do.
I have my criticisms though. A lot of the side missions feel half-baked. The main story is excellent but not always excellently told. By switching from one super-villain to the next throughout the game, the narrative spreads itself a little thin and most of the villains, apart from the joker, just don't have that much of an emotional impact for me, especially Hugo Strange who was hyped up to be a powerful antagonist by virtue of knowing Batman's true identity, a plot point that never pays off in a satisfying way. The game is also weirdly horny with its female characters. Very juvenile really.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting to say so much about this game. (I just have so many thought about it). None of these shortcomings detract from how incredible it is and the positives outweigh the negatives by a wide, WIDE margin. It's a masterpiece.
