rly awesome... crass tho it may be, the level of awareness this game has about how weird it is to engage with these things is something developers have only started getting around to more than 25 years later - and at that in comparatively prototypical and conceptual ways (thinking of GURN GROUP, d.h. croasdill's play mario, etc.). meanwhile in Captain Blood, the strangeness of having to send out a physical proxy to talk to anyone and the replication of the necessarily limited verb sets of vidgames in an obtuse dialogue system are weaved perfectly into the fiction of its very sinister, alienating, occasionally funny world. only exception i can think of is Tarotica Voo Doo

While it's a very unique game with the novel communication interface used to talk to aliens, the overall game loop gets tedious after a while.
