Xenoverse had so much potential, but it kinda falls flat. The create-a-character system is awesome, and it's a trip reliving classic Dragon Ball fights while flying around as your custom hero. But man, the combat gets boring fast, the story mode is a drag, and it just feels super repetitive after a while. Still, if you're a major DBZ fan with a lot of patience, you might find some fun in it.
Dragonball Xenoverse 1 has a big nostalgia factor on me, but after replaying it recently... jesus christ the combos in this game sucked.
Some PQs (mostly the overworld ones you have to complete alone the first time.... ehem super saiyan bargain sale--) are so obnoxious and frustrating if you don't want to resort to spamming blue hurricane over and over (Just like Vegeta and Trunks spamming their ultimates back to back because they have infinite Ki! God is this game fun!!)
and please don't get me started on the horrid drop rates of items and skills, it's really not fun to have to replay the same mission over and over just because the Skill or Z-Soul I want didn't win the RNG lottery. I'm not saying you should be guaranteed to get it, but please don't make me play the same mission 15 times for a single item..
It was fine back in 2015, but now that Xenoverse 2 has matured over the years with 5 quadrillion DLCs there's 0 reason to play this game outside of having a short nostalgia trip

This is a pretty fun time, but there's no real reason to go back into it. I picked it up awhile ago, but finally decided to get into it now because I've been in a big Dragon Ball mood, and I got REALLY into Xenoverse 2 a few years back, though that file is likely lost to time. This is still fun, it's a good time to grind up a character and make a build. I went with a Saiyan obviously and by the end was basically alternating spamming SSJ2 and Kaio-ken and then mashing Weekend in fights. It was fun. But Xenoverse 2 just replaces it now. I don't think the story of this even really matters for it, like sure it gives a little context but it's not mandatory. Just go play Xenoverse 2.
