Does giving this game a good rating legally force me to being a furry? Shit.

uhhh how did we go from Snoot Game to this?? Like Snoot Game had that potential to be serviceable if not for the 4chan ties and cringe "LGBT more like LGTV" style humour to put it lightly. It's story writing and character interactions were fine and the art was good for the most part. But this... this is the cleanest 180 away from that game and its barrelling down the road on its chromed out wheelchair.

Wani Hug That Gator is in my runner up for best sleeper hit so far, its being praised by the fair few who picked it up and for very good reasons. Its a basic, at times generic, high school romance story about a social outcast falling in love with another social outcast, except she is a paraplegic gator and that makes her extra special. Talking about her Olivia is such a good character, I loved almost any interaction she had because her sarcastic, cynical personality was done so well whenever she's in a good mood its a blast and anytime she's in a bad mood you just have to find a way to cheer her up. This game does a really good job making sure you care about her, and sure she's the love interest it would suck if the game failed at that, but keeping in mind these guys made Snoot Game, thats a real accomplishment. Aside from Olivia the other characters vary in quality and impact, but each add their own spice that highlights either their own flaw, or one of Olivia's. and shoutout to Liz for being second pick for best character i will never get tired of seeing her head plop from the top of the screen into frame when she shows up.

With regards to the writing I thought it was amazing. Each characters dialogue felt consistent, never felt bored reading it thats for sure it was like every conversation had something engaging going on and even the more chilled or romance filled scenes I was hooked with just killer writing. Now there were a few times maybe 4 times out of my 14 hour playthrough were i rolled my eyes and sighed out loud with some of that 4chan humour seeping through. Worst line involved the "Japanese Animation APpreciation Society" in which the main character comments on the poor use of an acronym.

I loved the art there are some fantastic CGs and the character designs are well made. Even the few fully animated moments throughout the game surprised me with how lively they were. Music was a mixed bag from some obviously royalty free sounds to some great original music done for the more important scenes (Edit: The soundtrack released on Steam and Spotify and its clear to me now the vast majority of the songs aren't royalty free and in fact are really well made, been listening to it passively while playing games or working and it may be a new go to background listening album.) And also the story’s pacing stayed engaging, with only a few parts that dragged on a smidgen too long.

Sure feels like this game should never have been this good, but with the odds against it, Cavemanon managed to turn around and make a well made, emotional VN with some lovable characters and a story that doesnt falter, and either leaves you satisfied with the good ending or makes you wish you got the good ending.

Also please for the love of Raptor Jesus, having a main character be a blank bald slate for self insert reasons and naming them INCO G NITO is a crime against humanity never was that ok, Snoot Game's mc being called Anon wasnt as bad as this

This game was really good, maybe more simpler and straightforward than their previous work storywise and some characters kinda lack some depth at least on the routes I played (Ending 2 & 4), but ending 4 for example was really heartwarming nonetheless

The music is very good, the art and animations still have that kinda rough vibes to them but they're plenty and you're not gonna get dissapointed by them just because they are not profesionally made, they're still tremendously good, I believe if they spended more time polishing and renewing some backgrounds it wouldn't be noticeable

In the end, is totally worth it despite all, you're gonna have a good time, I liked it

[DEMO REVIEW SO OUTDATED]
I played the demo since it hasn't released yet by the time of this review, I really like it tbh, I sure feel I need more time with it to get to like the characters but that's something for the full release, I like the music maybe too much and I was kinda impressed with the little moments of animation within the dialogue and short animated cutscenes, I want to experience the full game

Demo seems quite good so far. Very much looking forward to the full release.

’m not one for writing scripts. Or for playing visual novels. And this kind of response has been done several times over in videos, posts, ect. And I would like to make a video myself, but I lack the talent to do so I'm afraid. But I feel so compelled to share my thoughts on something I was quite fortunate to see.

I found “I wani hug that gator” by chance when I was browsing TikTok while on break, and feeling left out and alone in an environment that was less than home. From the videos I knew it was a visual novel, or a story of some kind. But I brushed it aside, thinking it was some kind of mistake by the Tik Tok algorithm. Then it keept on popping up again and again and again. See, I come from a trades background. And I remember this one piece of advice an old timer gave me “If you need to ask for a tool more than three times, you should buy it!” Thinking back I mush have seen the game pop up a half dozen times before I decided to see what it was all about. Hell I didn’t even know there was a demo. And even if I saw the button for it, I'm not sure I would care. Part of me had to know what this game was about. Because, outside of "I wani hug that gator", the only other visual novel I played (or that I'll admit to playing) was Katawa Shojo. And that, was by my estimation, one of the more complete versions of what a visual novel could be. Branching stories, multiple love interests, more endings that than you can poke a stick at.

But "I wani hug that gator" is....different. It is a visual novel in every aspect. And from a technical perspective it has way less than most games in this in this category. Hell, its more of a “Chose your own adventure” book, with its minimalist approach. But.....at the same time, the story, the characters, the endings. They all do so much more with so much less.

And I think that's a good thing.

See stories, much like art, are not meant to be made up of every single part that can make a story GOOD. They just need enough to make THEIR story good. They need enough to make you feel something, feel connected to the characters, their motivations, their dreams, their aspirations. And I think Cavemanon, and his or her team made something truly special. What started as a shit post on 4 chan that was, by all accounts a shitpost about Snoot game, which in itself was a shit post of Goodbye Volcano High, turned into a beautiful story about finding love in a strange place. A place no one expected it to be fount from a singular person who was just trying to find herself in the world.

Olivia (the gator in question) lived her life in self-isolation, being bitter about the hand she was dealt, trying to prove to everyone and herself that she was more than “A poor unfortunate cripple in a wheelchair”. But though the help of her friends, and Inco (the character you play as) her world is broken into a a million pieces, and put back together again with the love and care of those close, and the love of the one most closet to her. Much in the same way that Inco helped Olivia, she to helped Inco grow from rich kid to realizing the would could be so much more that just himself. He finds value in the company of others, he learns about who he really is, and what it is he wants to do in life, and he saw through Olivia's bullshit to find someone he could truly care for. And I think that this could not have been possible if it were not for their Teacher, Mr.Iadakan, who took a chance, and went out of his way to bring Inco and Olivia together in a way that no other character in the game could have.

But I'm giving too much of the story away. Like a great scientist once said “l'll leave you with something to think about.”

And that's what you should do. Think about it.

This game is not like most visual novels out there. It crossed age barriers, language, and I think that it has something for everyone out there. So If you have a moment, take it now to consider this opportunity to play a game that was probably the best $20 I've ever spent.

Also, fuck you Cavemanon. You made me feel all the feelings. And I thank you for it. This was truly something special. My only regret is that I wont get to experience this game again for the first time.

My name is Poptart, Thank you for Reading

was told this game was like this really tender and funny VN and its a John Green teen romance novels with people who whack off to furries but dont have the balls to say theyre furries. lame and pathetic. go play tsukihme or literally any other vn

chill game. no evil ass subtexts this time around.

Sua demonstração é ótima com seus personagens, história e animação e pensar que é sobre dinossauros antropomorficos numa escola de artes.

as someone who has played Snoot Game and this demo.
This game is going to blow Snoot Game out of the water (Snoot Game is still good tho)
