Jurassic: The Hunted is a budget-feeling first-person shooter that throws you onto a dinosaur-infested island. While its initial concept holds promise, the execution falters with repetitive encounters, bland visuals, and stiff controls. The occasional adrenaline-pumping showdown with larger dinos delivers some thrills, but these moments are undercut by a lack of polish and variety. Fans of the Jurassic Park franchise might find amusement here, but those looking for a refined FPS experience will likely be disappointed.
Absolute b-movie cheese in the form of a surprisingly solid FPS, it was really fun. The writing is completely awful in a great way, and the plot is literally the Bermuda Triangle sucking up some muscley dudebro army guys in a time vortex and sending them off to fight dinosaurs. I kinda miss mid-tier games like this.
Listen. This game is objectively terrible. The environments are bland and uninteresting. The level design is uninspired. The shooting is boring. The enemies aren't challenging. The voice acting is weak. The graphics are dated. The main character is stupid and cliché. But it has dinosaurs and an easy platinum so 2 stars for that alone.
It's also derivative of the Jurassic Park series in so many ways. Which is odd since a Jurassic Park movie hadn't come out in nearly a decade at this point. The recent turok game wasn't a huge success. People weren't clamoring for more dinosaur action in 2009 so why did this get made? Maybe they were just trying to capitalize on an open market with little competition. There's also sections where the game rips off CoD Zombies. Just bizarre.
The gameplay, environment, adrenaline mechanic, level design, nearly everything from this game reminds me of Haze so much. It's basically Haze but with Dinosaurs. It feels very 2006 or 2007. By 2009 this game was already dated.
If I had to say one good thing about this game it's that the dinosaur character models look pretty good anyways. They have some nice textures and colors to them that help bring the creatures to life.
