Fascinating as a mod for the DOOM engine, but the gameplay is pretty poor. I think it's an even better translation of Castlevania than its predecessor, with way more variety in weapons and characters. Still, it's quite dry and feels fairly directionless at times, especially towards the end.

Very cute and fun NES style game. Intuitive and enjoyable and also the werewolf lady is hot

HUGE step-up from the previous part, Lycanthorn II basically improves upon every aspect of its predecessor, through adding new locations, new enemies, even a storyline which was very vague/non-existent before. The storyline, although not great, and very simple still remains a nice touch to fill in the void that was left after the prequel. It's clearly visible that the developer saw the mistakes he did with the previous part and improved most of them, the game has become much more fun and enjoyable, and isn't boring anymore. Definitely worth a try.

The ideal for what a mashup Doom mod can be. Lycanthorn II uses the Doom engine to make a sort of open world action/adventure in the Legend of Zelda (1986) mold. You're plopped into a world with 8 dungeons and no directive of where to go beyond your own sense of adventure. Run through the open world, find the dungeons in whatever order, collect the power-ups (in this case, new "party members" which function as swappable unique weapons) and then finally take down the evil vampire Nosferatu.

It's really rad. Totally original setting, art, everything but with clear inspiration. Takes two concepts (Doom + Legend of Zelda) and combined them into something totally original. The absolute ideal form of the mashup mod (as opposed to, say, recreating LoZ in Doom).
