Madness is a pretty good twin-stick shooter with minor flaws that could easily be ironed out. Some of the controls are a bit unintuitive, but with time, you can get used to them. But don't bother playing on a controller; it's pretty awful. Story mode doesn't catch you up on anything Madness-related, which is fine for fans, but it leaves the mode entirely lacking for anyone else and goes on far too long. Arena is going to be the best mode in the game, with you being able to create a fresh character. It features more mechanics and overall variety in gameplay. Playground is simply pitting enemies against one another and playing god, a decent side activity. I'm not the biggest fan of the Madness series and re-watched a couple episodes before playing the game, but if you're an existing fan, this is a must-play. For anyone else with a passing interest, it's worth a shot but won't be the greatest game ever.
I remember the days of having to lower the quality of my flashplayer on Newgrounds and UGO Player in order to watch Madness 5 and 6 with less lag back in the early/mid 2000s. I was so hyped for this game and backed it as soon as I could and played it quite a bit in the early access beta for a year or 2. I held back on sinking too much time into it as I wanted to fully go in on the full release. It's fun and Krinkles and Swain have been really great and clear during the entire dev process. It's the best piece of fan service. Newgrounds forever.

i played the newgrounds version of this a while ago, and it made me pretty excited to the release of this game because i was hoping they would improve upon what was already a great game, and improve it was exactly what they did.
the graphics are very badass and they really give you a similar vibe to the newgrounds madness combat cartoons
story mode is heavily improved upon, and i like how they changed jesus' name to "Christoff." I don't really know why they did it but im glad they did. i didn't play much of story mode when you compare it to arena mode, so i'm just gonna talk about that now.
Arena mode is where the game is at its best in my opinion. the old arena mode was just fighting the same enemies in the same room while just upgrading your character. this time, arena has its own campaign that separates itself from the normal campaign, and it's very fun. upgrading has been changed to where you gain XP based off how much of a certain skill you used within each mission, which is a smart way to get people to go back and roll around and punch more. i find arena combat more fun than story mode because it's fun to start off weak and upgrade instead of starting off with max skills.
i really hope this game goes further and gets things like console ports because i think more people deserve to play this game
i gave this a 5 stars because there's really nothing about it i don't like, it's definitely not perfect but it does what it wants to do and it does a damn good job at it
