This kinda blew me away a bit. This is one of the highest quality source mods I've ever played. It even runs on its own custom modified version of the source engine. In some ways it looks more visually impressive than Portal 2 itself. It also has some of the best voice acting I've heard in a mod, I love the new sphere characters. Love.

Portal: Revolution starts-off very strong. I really enjoyed the different choice of environment (bright and leafy) as opposed to both Portal games. Unfortunately, the pacing does fall apart before the halfway point.
There are long sections with no puzzles and no dialogue, which would be acceptable in moderation but not to this extent. Puzzles don't reinforce one-another in the way you'd hope, new mechanics are only engaged with by themselves and then forgotten about.
I liked the world-building aspect of the game, but much of the dialogue was just not interesting enough. The joke density of the Portal franchise is just too hard to match it seems.
Overall, I think that Revolution is a really great fangame that does capture enough of the spirit of the originals to be worth playing for fans. Some fans will be disappointed by the lack of difficulty, but for me that wasn't a big issue.

Really like this mod; loved the new puzzle mechanics and the dialogue was cute + funny, even if the story wasn't anything mindblowing. Main critiques are that the game usually only had 1-2 of the new mechanics at any time, stopping use of old ones as it introduced new ones.
Definitely could've done with more levels, even as non-canon ones you could do after completing the game if it would drag out the story too much. Maybe also a multiplayer mode?

It is as good as Portal 1 and 2 and may even be the best portal mode.
The humor in his story is in a very good portal style and fits Decently between 1 and 2.
The difficulty of the sections was quite in place.
Not to mention, the vocalizations were better than I expected.
The end ended like portal 1, as if there will be a sequel, I hope we can see more work from this team.

Fun puzzles that gave more portal gameplay adding in water that blocked gels, difficult puzzles, and then needing to solve a puzzle that keeps getting more difficult with a time crunch at the end.
But the story started picking up, dropping a bunch of cool hints that you start to expect to see payoffs for and then all of a sudden the game ends and it was a bummer. Wish the game just had that tiny bit more to it to really tie everything together better. But oh well

Portal: Revolution is a modified version of Portals 2 that tells a new story with new characters, adding to Aperature's deep lore and fascinating gameplay concepts. The characters are almost as funny as the ones in the original games (which is a really impressive feat), the new mechanics mesh with the old ones in fantastic ways, and the puzzles themselves are fun and interesting. The only complaint I could muster is that the difficulty of the puzzles are inconsistent throughout the game, with an odd progression, but the puzzles themselves are, like I said, fantastic. If you love the Portals series, then ABSOLUTELY 100% check this game out. It's free on Steam, and gave me a few afternoons of fun.
This is an excellent Portal fan game. Truly, one of the greats. If you love the Portal series, I'd recommend picking this one up. It does some really interesting things while looking to fill the gaps between Portal 1 and 2. At times, this feels exactly like a Portal game. The comedy, the weird characters, the puzzles. It all fits so well! At other times, it falls just short of what it needs to be.
First, what did I love? I love that it feels like a Portal game. I love that it presents difficult, but not impossible puzzles. I love that it comes up with new mechanics for how to use the pieces that exist in Portal 2. I love the three new characters you get to spend time with, their backgrounds, and evolution as characters.
What didn't I like? Some of the writing falls flat, specifically motivation of one character feels...unearned? It's too bad because I felt the story was very close, a few more moments of dialogue to build out the character and hint at their backstory would have made a big difference. There was also one puzzle that was, honestly, impossible. You have to stand in a specific spot to get the portal to work, going against every other puzzle in the whole game. I really frustrated me and I eventually had to look up the solution (but only to that one puzzle). It also drags a bit at times. Without the story driving it, its just a series of puzzles - sometimes for a reason and sometimes not. Valve was really, really good at walking that line and these creators come close, but don't quite hit it.
In the end, I really enjoyed this playthrough. I enjoyed the new atmosphere, puzzles, characters...all of it really. And if you love the Portal games, I think you'll really like this one. But you won't love it, and that's where my rating falls off a bit.

Didn't think it was funny and tried too hard to be. Puzzles are a mixed bag, difficulty very inconsistent, no real curve but rather a zig zag. Way too much filler content where you're just walking around and looking for the next "portalable" wall.
Considering it's a free mod it's got very good production value and some of the puzzles were indeed excellent. Were it a standalone, regular priced game I would not necessarily recommend it, but it was decent overall.

Extremely good fangame. If you're a Portal fan I highly recommend checking it out. Generally good puzzles, a bold attempt at a plot, and it does a lot of things that I also liked in Portal 2.
Disclaimer: I got about halfway into this game before I decided I got my fill. It's possible that lategame improves on things I mention, though from reading other reviews, I'm doubtful.
After some hours I did get my fill, and decided to stop playing prematurely. I think something that happens with a lot of Portal 2 fan-campaigns/mods is that they get stale in their puzzles after a while. Portal 1 and 2 both introduce mechanics one at a time and then start combining them together, such that over the course of an entire game you never really go too long without getting some new stimulus to process. Most fan content obviously can't do that. They use the tools that are provided in the box, and are generally designed with the knowledge that a player has already finished the main game and knows how everything works.
Portal Revolution advertises that the puzzle difficulty picks up right where Portal 2 left off, with some new mechanics added, and that playtime ranges from 5 - 7 hours. However, while the difficulty picks up where Portal 2 left off, I felt as if it also plateau'd there. The time between new mechanics made me feel as if things were getting long in the tooth before I'd even reached them. Remember, Portal 1 is 3-5 hours, potentially shorter if you already know what you're doing. Making a fangame longer than Portal 1 is truly no small feat, but I do think it points to a lack of brevity in the team, something that can often happen when a team is too passionate about its own work to have restraint.
I don't want it to sound negative, honestly the game is still fun to play. It's just that it's easier to make criticisms when the only positive things I have to say are that I enjoyed the puzzles.

Gameplay-wise it lives up as a worthwhile Valve-quality new entre in the Portal franchise. It felt really good to be playing high quality test chambers again and getting to see a few mechanics that were scrapped from Portal 2 fully realized was cool.
Narratively? Very disappointing. Almost a beat-for-beat retread of Portal 2 with weaker characters. It introduces cool ideas with lots of potential and doesn't really do anything with them, and then ends on a miserable anti-climax. Huge bummer that really soured this in my mind.
I still think it's worth your time if you're a fan of Portal, especially considering it's free.

An unusual addition to the series. Almost nothing new was told, and the story itself is similar to both original ones))
Some rooms were very difficult, I sat and thought for a long time. It's good that it was made longer than the first part. I liked. The visual has become more beautiful in places and a red device and new cubes have been added.
