The game is clear in what is going to happen to you, you will die. That's it, you can't do anything to avoid that so this survival simulation game is how far can you go before that tragedy arrives.
You can build your own base, get food exploring the cities, fix and rebuild cars, then you'll catch a cold and be dead, then again you can build your own base...
Is hard to fall in love with the Project Zomboid experience, I have played 176 hours and just now I'm starting to try to play by myself, learn the mechanics, trying my best to survive. There has been A LOT of situations when I was surrounded by zombies then I found my way to lost them through a forest, I was starving until lost almost all my strength and then found a house with 10 cans of food, I was bleeding my shit out then with patience and rest I healed. That was the hell of a game, sadly one bit my ankle and I got infected c:
As I said, you will die, but how far can you go before that happens?

Hands down the best zombie survival experience I have played.
After sinking 1,100+ hours [1,160 as of review] into this indie game I proudly say I will put more in. I'm not going to deny that there's a steep learning curve however if you take your time, day by day- you'll grasp it in no time. The modding scene is absolutely superb when it comes to verity on changing up the game for you, expanding onto the already existing difficult survival, engaging gameplay, and some of the best atmospheric moments you'll ever have in a game like this.
Find what settings work best for you but at the end of the day,
This is how you died.
