Note: USED COMMUNITY PATCH to play.

Hell of a game, very fun to play with the patch. I'd tried prior to the patch however it didn't have the same spark as Civ 4 did. This patch fixed everything. As an Ethiopian General, I played on the World Map (realistic) and started of in Eastern Russia, slowly expanding into Malaysia and Japan, taking over Oceania. After which thanks to an American ally, we invaded the Mongolians and took over cities. This provided the seed for me to conquest the entire map, by which time there were 4 super powers, Netherlands, USA, England and Me (Ethiopia). I shifted to becoming a military nation, and split the netherlands from USA, by invading unoccupied land. Using this I moved my troops to take over the Netherlands which was a nation based in Africa. After taking over the African continent, I invaded the USA which despite pleading for a peace treaty I ignored. Eventually after taking over the entire of Asia and Europe, I went to battle the Americas and the combat became very easy with more than 45 cities under my belt. My only gripe with combat is the hexagonal tiles are not conducive to combat or units, and you cannot stack units which means despite having an army of 20+, each fight is a chore. This game is a time sink- this single Ethiopian campaign took 3 days to complete.

fun with friends, fun alone up to emperor difficulty, is a time sink tho

Addictive and really fun in multiplayer but unfortunately the overall experience is somewhat shallow, and easy going. The higher difficulty levels are mostly just done by giving the AI massive advantages and making them really aggressive, instead of making the AI actually more intelligent. Thus making the repeatability a bit low.

That being said I have wasted an immense amount of my life on this game.

Just one more turn! this is a fantastic multiplayer experience, 3-4 max.

One of the best "just one more turn" games, its messy strategic missteps and not so great tactical depth nevertheless stand on a strong foundation. If you don't take it too seriously you can have a lot of fun with its sandbox.

“Oh, but 6 is too streamlined for big babies”, who gives a toot, it’s prettier to look at for one 8+ hours game. Having only one builder forever is pretty sick though 😗

First time playing a game of this to completion after years of giving up halfway through. Kind of tensionless and rote towards the end but there was something fun about seeing a simple version of an international balance of power emerge out of its events.

i cant spend 3 billion hours on it but its fun to be violent

I installed too many mods and now my computer crashes when I look at the desktop icon wrong

You can mod in a Penguin Empire

Played it with some friends. Many things I wanted to do during those sessions. Every time those sessions ended and I accomplished nothing as I had barbarians crawling up my ass for the first couple hours.

-"Que bueno el civilization 4"

-"¡Señoras y señores, les presentamos la civilizacion 5!"

A perfect entry into strategy games. Not too complex, just deep enough to get you hooked.

I always think love playing this game so much, and then I need to go to war, and I am like, wow, I do not like this game actually

Wide as a sea, shallow as a puddle, or whatever the saying is. Decent fun, especially if you like playing 4X's with friends, but if you want a particularly deep experience—economic management, tactical warfare, complicated diplomacy—there are other games that'll scratch your itch. Don't drink water when you really want beer.

This game got me through college

It's mid idk takes too long. I don't like these kind of games where they expect you to sit down for 10 hours doing the same shit over and over and enjoy it

Really good, nothing bad with the game, its just that civ VI is better

I bullied my friend for liking this game but it turns out hes just ass at explaining it this game rules

Just... One... More... turn...

Meh. It was ok, never really got into it.

One of the best strategy games I've ever played even though the next turn bell sound is permanently stuck in my head. Civilization VI may be better in some aspects but this will always be my choice in the end.

With the amount of hours I have spent in this game, it would feel wrong to rate it anything less than 5 stars. For many, myself included, this is the ultimate civilization experience.
