I do like me some trucks. This was a lot of fun to pick up and put down since its release in 2020. Some of the tasks were repetitive, and I don’t think the terrain deformation was as fun or interesting as Spintire Mudrunners.
The truck selection is great, and the developer has done so much work with updating the game throughout the years.
My goal was to 100% prior to Expeditions coming out and I’m glad I came back to wrap up the 2 maps I hadn’t 100%.
Good game, Grindy as hell.

Upon looking at this game, I thought I would hate it. I kind of do, but the gameplay of just delivering shit to and from places could be so good. Emphasis is on "could be," because it is held back by the terrain and the cars. The whole point of the game is driving through rough terrains and that's a cool concept, but every vehicle you start with isn't meant to go offroad. You get a pickup that can't haul cargo and a shitty truck that is only meant for highways. To get more trucks, you either have to find them in the environment or do jobs to get money. The problem with these things is you have to use the trucks you are given from the start which, again, don't go offroad. The potential is there, but I just can't continue driving in the mud for what feels like an hour.
I came back to this game after playing for 20 hours a few years ago, and damn! This gameplay core focused on optimising your routes and unlocking new passages is hella addicting, to the point that I just keep thinking about what to do next even after closing the game. The gameplay starts pretty slow, and you will most likely seek a guide to unlock the best tracks early, but goddamn, I think I might have to uninstall it just to get work done!
i never thought i could actually be autistic until i spent like three weeks straight without eating or sleeping just because seeing virtual trucks very slowly wade through mud activated neurons i shouldn't have
i fear the grasp this game could take on me if i were to ever start playing it again. brain-frying. very good.

‣ 3/10 – SnowRunners? More like SnowStuckers.
‣ Thoughts: This might be the worst driving simulator game I’ve ever played. At first it was a pretty interesting concept and a genuinely fun time, but the more I tried to play the game the less I could. The only reason why I stuck around for 6 hours was because of a friend that trucked along.
The whole grand idea of SnowRunners is driving a truck through difficult terrains and fixing up roads to make other missions easier. The thing is you can’t really drive through anything without getting stuck on everything. You start off with a limited amount of cash and can only afford a shitty first vehicle to work with. The problem is that truck is too bad and can’t drive anywhere that isn’t pure, perfect asphalt. And guess what, all those roads are closed off, and the game forces you to use mud filled shitty roads. It is absolutely insane how unfair and time-consuming the roads you are forced to use are.
I don’t really have anything positive to say about SnowRunners. It has interesting ideas but all of them are executed poorly and that is reinforced with a misleading tutorial. Thankfully this pile of shit was on Xbox game pass, and I only wasted my time.

Monotony, my dear sweet friend, how I love you so.
Because, really, that's all this game is. No concessions on travel time or physics, buddy, and fuck that fast travel nonsense. This right here is about 100~ hours of pure, sweet monotony.
When I call this game "fun" you may look at some of the other games I've rated highly and assume that this is a fast-paced or flashy adventure with tons of depth. Nope, it's a truck driver sim through and through. Each individual task can take about 20-30 minutes, more if you get stuck in the mud or have a fatal jack-knife incident or crash or fuck something up. There's more back and forth in this game than there is in politics, albeit with infinitely less bigotry.
Sell your American trucks. Buy the starting Russian truck. Become a god of the commute. Sob into your cereal at 7:32am on a Wednesday because you forgot to engage low gear, went too fast, and spilled a ton of service parts everywhere - necessitating another hour's journey.
It's beautiful. It's boring. I love it. Highway trucks suck. I should buy the Year 3 DLC.

Snowrunner is a simulator masterpiece
This game is a must for all lovers of heavy vehicles and rough terrain.
It has everything an offroad enthusiast could ask for, good gameplay, great graphics and amazing physics of the world and vehicles. It's the kind of game that competes with itself, because with each update it outdoes itself with new features and extended hours of gameplay.
it's hard not to praise this game, it's perfect within its genre.
