Quite the improvement over the first game. This is more of a game in the vein of Elite than a simple first person space shooter. You can literally fly towards a planet and transition to its surface (and below it) which for a game in 1988 with polygonal graphics must have been absolutely mind-blowing. Despite being technically impressive, it's also a bit boring once you've gotten your fill of aimlessly exploring the world.
