If the first couple packs for TS2 where amazing, this is where they start to feel shallow. I absolute loved all the packs before this because of the amount of quality content they add, and all the activities and items they contribute to build mode. But here there really is not much in comparison. Pets adds, well, pets, and a few build mode related items such as cat trees, toys, food bowls, and beds. But besides that, and the ability for your sims to interact with animals, pets become very shallow in your game. Simply being, and I hate to say, just items in the house. They walk around do things, and you interact with them. There are a few more in-depth features such as pet jobs, and training your pets; and while cool, more so the training part to make pets act better, still just felt like small little things you could do but they overall didn't feel super amazing. A nice pack for the atmosphere of the sims, but nothing more in depth then that to me at least.

The PS2 port is probably the closest a console Sims game has ever got to replicating the mainline PC games' experience, at least before Sims 3. A lot of the non-PC Sims games are spinoffs, like the PSP Sims 2 game which is more inIine with an adventure game. This game is much more traditional however. I have a lot of nostalgic feelings for this game since it's my first ever Sims game, and it's a very decent game so I enjoyed it a lot. Some things doesn't really hold up but overall I'll say that it's still a pretty good game today. Would rather play this than Sims 4 tbh.
PC: crackin. PC sims 2 is perfect. i made doctor newlow have a spy cat in his post-strangetown rehabilitation era. i like to imagine it's salem
PS2: okay the cooking system in this game is FANTASTIC i love a good cooking system. shame about the glitch with your bin which i was subjected to, but nonetheless is absolutely worth plenty of playthroughs on an emulator (or original hardware of course). the setting is cute, i love the idea of all the houses and cabins surrounding the lake, the setting genuinely has some really beautiful quintessential PS2 graphics. also i used to make bernese mountain dogs as a kid and set the p l u m p slider up to full. i will not confirm nor deny that i still do this
PSP: uhh okay loading is a big one here, currently just the opening even on memory card takes quite a while, but on disc it's really difficult to recommend. otherwise, it's great for scratching the console sims 2 gameplay itch on PSP considering the main sims 2 release was. whatever it was (perfect). slightly repetitive if you're on the career grindset, but in small bursts i love it.
