The character models in the cutscenes are so deeply cursed, that I don't know what to do with my life.

I'm 21, and decided to try the old first two Tony Hawk games on the PS1, and these were amazing. But my skateboard addiction was not fulfilled. I tried this PSP port of Tony Hawk Underground 2, and I'm AMAZED. A shit ton of amazing levels, with old levels as bonuses, a trick editor, a big solo campaign with semi open-world objectives, alongside a classic old school campaign, an amazing soundtrack, funny animations, and a great customization value (my character is a suited gentleman skeleton with the gold chain of Flavor Flav). And you have to think about it : it was released in 2005, when the DS only appears, and you have AN OPEN WORLD SKATEBOARDING GAME with a SHIT TON OF CONTENT, that you can play in your toilets or during a road trip ? Yeah, this is easily one of the best skate game ever made.

But it have some issues :
- The maps are often composed of tiny corridors, with the shitty camera and the sometimes clunky physics, this can be really tedious at times.
- No more skatepark creator, I'm sad.
- A few glitches here and there.

But nothing to stop the fun !

It;s THUG 2, but on the go. This game includes some more levels, missions and skaters than the original one. It plays pretty comfortable on the PSP, and includes everything the original one had. Good times

Best official Tony Hawk game due to variety of levels, movesets and overall feel. I play it on the Vita with 60fps hack

Completed through an emulator.

I used to own this but I never got to beat it because it always crashed my PSP. Beating it on an emulator was fun, though, and it's pretty impressive that they were able to squish this down onto a handheld at the time.

It's hard for me to call this the definitive version of this game with all the technical hiccups. Cutscenes are greatly downgraded and have weird graphical glitches, audio is delayed in many areas, the game overall is just not as polished presentation wise. But god damn, this is Underground 2 as you know and love it on a portable system with more content! This is far from a bad version, it's still insanely fun and honestly impressive that a PS2 game can run at all on a portable system.

im amazed that it works on psp but besides that im not a huge fan of lvl designs

If it wasn’t for weird camera controls, this would be better than the home console versions. It’s a very 1:1 “demake” while even adding more levels.

THUG 2 remix is essentially THUG 2 but more, the new levels are pretty fun, the new cutscenes are alright (Eric's VA is different in the new scenes which is entertaining), and the new characters are nice. If you liked THUG 2, there's really no reason not to play this. The controls are a bit stiff and the lack of camera controls can be a bit rough, but not enough to be a significant issue.

Suprisingly faithful adaptation of the PS2 version that runs super well. As someone who plays THUGPro a lot I was able to jump in and go nuts without any issue.

I have an interesting point that I've been pondering lately, and it may sound insane, but hear me out. Are flaws in a game inherently a bad thing?

I mean, of course they can be. Most of the time, they are. But, can they not enhance the experience? Can they not add more personality to it? And I don't mean in a "so bad it's good way" (I'm beginning to kinda hate that phrase). I mean like, genuinely.

THUG 2 is one of the prime examples of this. If you've played this game and look at my 5/5 score you're probably like "but, this game is stupid! The jackass humor has aged horribly! The vehicles suck! It's story is super simple compared to the first one!"

Thing is, I like those aspects of this game! I think they give the game a more distinct style. It makes me feel like I'm, well, playing THUG 2! Whenever I'm playing as Steve-O in the mechanical bull (which yes, controls like shit) I'm just sorta like "ahhh, THUG 2 :)".

And yea, this port, which I've in the past kinda shit on for being a clear downgrade, actually kinda further shows why I love this game so much. It's jankier, messier, the cutscenes are broken, it plays worse. But that makes it more "THUG 2", and I love THUG 2, so it works out for me!

This still isn't my favorite THPS game, and honestly, it'll probably never beat out THUG 1. But I think this might be number 2 for me. I love this goddamn stupid piece of shit.

I used to play this game ALL the time on my PSP. Loved it, and the licensed songs unironically shaped my budding music tastes.

One of the hidden gems in the Tony Hawk library. Remix is a port of THUG 2 with 4 additional levels not found on the console version. The extra levels are surprisingly good and some of the best in the game.

The graphics, audio, and off-board camera can be buggy in spots and could have used more polish, but these things are easy to forgive on a portable Tony Hawk game from 2005. Overall, Remix plays just like a portable version of its PS2 counterpart, and that is a impressive accomplishment.
