nearly as good as here comes the pain by my disc had a 50/50 shot of working so tough memories there

u could shave kurt angles head

- Snappy and balanced wrestling with the iconic cinematic camera finishers.
- Cohesive 2-year storyline-based season mode with a first-person backstage mode in-between matches.
- The best roster out of the WWE games until WWE 2K14.
- Totally accurate overall artistic depiction (aesthetics, camera shots, grain filters, background music, areas, presentation, etc.) of the times which we didn't see again until SvR 2006, THIS is where this game excels.

I totally recommend this one or SvR 2006 instead of Here Comes The Pain.

One of the best wrestling games ever made. Peak roster and I liked how they did the star ratings in the story mode. I probably put 100+ hours into this game, easy.

This isn't so much a review as a statement, but my copy has some serious save issues, and i'm not sure what i can do to fix it. Everytime i save, the first save works perfectly, but after that, it's unable to detect a memory card at all, even if i remove the memory card i saved it to and use another. If I delete the data, it works though. Very Strange

I made DOZENS of stolen IP characters from Darth Vader to Mr. Freeze. This was the entire reason to own a multitap in my house. My brother and I broke this back out last Christmas and still had an awesome time with it.

I adore the backstage brawls on this one.

does the spooky laugh from triple h’s theme

Massive step-up from Just Bring It!. Feel like it gets overshadowed by Here Comes the Pain alot, but this was still a very good predeccsor.

that season mode hit so different.

Shut Your Mouth was a step forward for the Smackdown series at the time, but today, it feels a bit like a work-in-progress compared to its sequel, Here Comes the Pain. There are less moves, season mode is less polished, and the graphics, lighting, and character models are also a step below. Some players do prefer Shut Your Mouth for its roster and simpler gameplay, and I get that, but I would still recommend Here Comes the Pain over this in most situations.

I think the customization was the best in this game.

First 6th console generation wrestling title I ever tried, and man did it seem revolutionary. Story mode just never ended, letting me play out glorious pre-Ruthless Aggression nonsense as much as I liked. Being able to walk around backstage and bump into NPC wrestlers, kicking up feuds or launching little skits with them, was priceless. A lot of the game modes were firsts for me (N64 wrestling titles could never handle Hell in a Cell). Just a lot of fond, era specific memories with this one.

Personally think the roster and gameplay are better than here comes the pain but it's very subjective. This game has along story mode and plenty of fun to be had

It’s a pretty good game, I liked it overall. The gameplay while extremely outdated is actually quite fun but needed improvements (which thankfully did happen) with a good roster for the most part, the amount of areas you can fight in this game is incredible, from backstage to out on the streets, you can even jump off certain titantrons ans even drive the undertakers motor bike! Among many other things that amount of freedom in this game is great and the best part of this game as a whole. For the season mode its pretty generic and I can’t say I liked it but the matches for the most part felt fun and challenging despite being frustrating at points, still the roster, match gameplay, customisation for the time and particularly the freedom of backstage areas to fight in makes this a pretty good game!

good and funny cause you can climb the smackdown fist

This is probably the wresting game I played the most. I created so many fighters in the custom modes that looked like super heroes, Darth Maul, etc. It was a blast. Also climbing the giant fist.

It's so difficult to pick a favourite between this and Here Comes the Pain. The roster and scope of the season mode in Shut Your Mouth are incredible and haven't been replicated since. It's season mode on steroids. The look of the superstars is great and has yet to be spoiled by the glossy lighting of HCTP. It's in its presentation and attention to detail that SYM really shines. Gameplay is a big upgrade to Just Bring It but hasn't yet become as polished as HCTP. Still a fantastic game worth playing and easily one of the best WWE games of all time.
