I'm not really into fighting games, nor am I a vtuber fan, but one of my friends wanted to play this with me, and since it's free, I decided to give it a go.
It's a very solidly-built game; the moves feel snappy and responsive, the music is nice, sfx feel punchy and the spritework is fantastic.
It's simple enough for a fighting game newcomer like me to get a grasp on, not sure on the overall depth of combat, all I can say is that in terms of defensive moves or maneuvers, it's very lacking.
The roster isn't huge, but I don't think you can ask for much from a free game like this. Despite that, the developers are working hard on putting in more characters and so far put out 1 new fighter along with new assists and other stuff.
The multiplayer aspect is not amazing, but good, and even has spectator mode now.
With the new update, the game has crashed on my friend and I a few times but it's nothing that devs can't fix with time, I'm sure.
Overall, a good game, even better if you're a hololive fan.
It's very clear the devs put a lot of love and effort into this title.

okay so this game is actually really well put together and it's enjoyable even if you don't like hololive and yeah yeah whatever but the most important thing I need to bring up about Idol Showdown is that you can use your burst in the middle of your own attacks and I don't know of any other fighting games that let you do that, so I have just now placed it on a very silly pedestal in my mind.
$0.00 for peak.

Unironically does more things right than modern fighting games (namely netcode and not ignoring PC players exist).
While I'm not really into vtubers all that much, this game does have some fun characters which I enjoyed playing. The stages are really cool too, and they have some great music with them.
The gameplay is overly simplistic however. It definitely feels intended to be a 'party' game, something a casual player can pick up and play. I don't think this is a bad thing, because the game knows what it wants to be, but that does limit the enjoyment for me.
It was fun for a few hours, and I'm very glad it's free to play and extremely accessible, plus it had good netcode and keyboard controls, but the lack of depth means I won't be playing this very consistently. Good stuff tho!

Really great fighting games even if you know nothing about Vtubers or Hololive.
Me being the filthy weeb that I am got the references and loved it even more.
The roster is good and varied and there's multiple modes to choose from; the stages are well built and nice to look at and the music is top notch.
Overall, it's a blast

Holy VTubers, Batman! Idol Showdown is an absolute whirlwind of cringe and chaos, and I mean that in the most glorious way possible. From the obligatory ARA ARA to the unexpected GOMEN NASAI SENPAI ARA ARA, this game is a savage masterpiece. The beats are like a Demondice track on steroids, minus the slide whistle (sorry, fans). It's the kind of auditory assault that's either going to make you scream "SAYONARA" or become a devoted disciple of this unholy shrine to VTuber madness. An unconventional masterpiece, I'd give it a rating that transcends numbers but let's settle on 11/10 for the sheer audacity.
