This was my first Pokémon game and it’s good but oh my god is it annoying. The fog, the snow, my mortal enemy Fantina, a lot of it just frustrated me so much
If it wasn't for the inclusion of WiFi battling & trading (which doesn't work anymore) this game would've been a mediocre sequel. Many of the new monsters I personally found underwhelming in terms of design, this was the first time a game didn't motivate me to catch a full team. The battle gameplay is slower than its ever been and I found much of the map forgettable. I've heard Platinum was better but this didn't leave me wanting more of Sinnoh. Once again features locked events only accessible via hacking.

Personal bias on this one, but it had a ton of things to do
While itself a fantastic game, it seriously suffers from issues with the game's story pacing and overall speed, as well as questionable Pokedex decisions. Play Platinum if you're able to.
Maybe I look at this game with rose tinted glasses but god damn it’s really good. All the Pokémon introduced in this gen were visually great, the legendaries were real cool, and locations all look great with an amazing soundtrack to compliment them. However it has its problems like the slow surf speed, bad story pacing, mediocre characters, and not much post game.
While the gameplay and pacing is pretty slow by Pokemon standards this game still holds up really well. Set a very high bar for the DS Pokemon games.

Not quite as good as SoulSilver but Gen IV killed it, and Pokémon has never been as good since
3 stars due to how slow it is, but 5 for it being my first pokemon game :)
Just too slow. It feels like it takes forever to get from place to place as the routes are incredibly long, often convoluted and filled with trainer battles. Most of the battles take long as well and the Surf speed is really bad. This is also the gen that had about a billion HMs, including such highlights like Rock Climb and Defog. It's still Pokemon though, which is fun enough. Also easily the hardest game in the series, thanks mostly to the physical/special split and that Champion.

Jesus Diamond and Pearl are easily the worst pokemon games. They lack so many of the features that were common in pokemon games at this point and theyre just super fucking cringe. Please just play platinum.
The base game for my favorite generation of pokemon. Always a blast to play this whenever I have the downtime.

Overrated garbage
It's not Platinum but this game still means so much to me. It's good.
