A nearly perfect package of fighting game excellence. Anyone can pick it up and look good while having fun, while an expert player can humiliate anyone mashing buttons with ease. It also has a surprisingly robust and enjoyable single player element, with Edge Master mode providing a load of challenges to work through and plenty to unlock in doing so.
A true benchmark title.

Transcending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords eternally retold. I don't think there is a fighting game out there with more emotional and personal significance than SoulCalibur 2. I can name every character, hum every tune, and warp back to a simpler time, before the struggles of adulthood every time I hear this game boot up. Even the intro alone is enough to get emotions going. SoulCalibur was always a benchmark for gaming visuals and overall great design, and 2 is no letdown. It expands upon the first game in just about every way, while keeping it faithful to why the original was one of the most important games of its time. Guest characters and multiple weapons spice up the gameplay here, as well as a full dungeon crawler mode to add variety to regular arcade ladders. I have no real complaints here, it's just a god damn solid fighting game that means a lot to me personally, and will always be attracting crowds until the end of time.
This is probably my go to fighting game for casual fun times. Its hard to get really frustrated or sweaty with this. It has the perfect balance of very easy to pick up mechanics but it has a proper skill cieling to where it isnt just mindless. Everything about it is classic to me. And I still pop this one in every now and then for a great time
Gameplay mechanics are solid, but single player modes are lacking. This is definetly geared towards competitive multiplayer which isn't a bad thing, but if you're just looking to play for fun there are plenty of fighting games with better single player content. If you want to play against other people I'm sure theres a Netplay community out there if you look for it.
