This is a very average racing game. I played it a long time ago as a kid.

The driving in this game is not terrible but far inferior when compared to other racing games like the Need For Speed titles. The driving felt clunky and just overall not fun. The races can be either extremely easy because the AIs are pretty bad or unfathomably hard because you showed up in a pickup racing against vipers. If you wonder how anyone would end up in the latter scenario, the game doesn’t tell you who you are going to be up against nor set up the racers to be more or less equal as you.

The game puts a lot of emphasis on destruction. You can ram into cars in the streets and absolutely tear them into a million pieces. The cars would even explode if you run into them hard enough. Hell, you can smash through the Hollywood sign which is pretty dope. The destruction in this game is implemented extremely well and I really liked it.

There is police in the game too. They are, fortunately, nowhere close in terms of aggressiveness when compared to MW cops. The stakes are pretty low too as you can just respawn after you wrecked your car with no penalty whatsoever. There was also these stolen car segments where you will have to drive the car away with police chasing you. But none of them are really difficult. So basically the police are there, but they don’t really put up much of a fight so you can just safely ignore them.

Overall, LA rush is a pretty mid racing game. It has its charm but that’s only going to the game so far given the poor handling of cars. Not bad, not good, simply a forgettable average racing game.

Midway knows street culture, apparently. The game that has West Coast Customs tricking out your ride but you having no control over said customization. An interesting way of getting new cars, but ultimately is let down by being the budget racing title it truly is.
