Loved Gen 4, Infernape is my guy

This is my pokemon hot take

lost the cart to this one around the elite 4 cos i asked a school friend to beat it for me cos i couldnt and he never gave it back (he said he lost it he probably didnt fuck that guy) and despite my attempts i cant make myself stick with another run through to get back there

My introduction to the franchise. I'm glad i got to know Pokémon for this game and not newer ones, it makes me appreciate every change for better or worse in the newer releases.

incredibly janky, but mt coronet is in it and mt coronet is beautiful

This game does not hold up and every good thing about this region is thanks to Platinum. Although the harder Cynthia fight (levels wise) is missed.

THE MUSIC! I think I can confidently say my favorite music in any pokemon game besides Legends Arceus which basically has these tracks in a more advanced state. It's such a toss up between Sinnoh and Unova for best region, but I think I would have to get Sinnoh the edge here. It's just such a joy to explore especially when you get into the ladder half of the game.

Team Galactic is a super fun antagonist and Cynthia is one of the best boss theme's and overall fight of all time. The pokemon in this region is probably the deepest the creators got in their bag with highlights like Luxray, Garchomp, Lucario, Gliscor, and all the Gen 1 third evo's.

Look this game is great, really, but it's a horrible slog to go through. Apart from the famed slowness, it does suffer from terrible Pokémon distribution and a somewhat lackluster story. It did introduce great things to the franchise, like the Physical/Special split and easier ways to see all the Pokémon in the regional dex! But it's not the definitive gen 4 experience.

first pokemon game i beat and i'll never forget beating cynthia while taking a shit with only my lvl 40 something gabite left

Some people say Generation IV was the peak of the Pokémon series. I don't think so, mainly because I am biased in favor of Generation III and I think Infernape is just a Blaziken wannabe.

That said, play 'Pokémon Platinum' if you want to dive into Sinnoh. (Then play 'Pokémon Legends: Arceus.')

After playing Gen 1, 2, and 3 for years, I was quite hyped for Gen 4. It didn't really click however, I don't think I ever got past the 4th gym. Years later I picked it up again and got through it, and it might be the 'which pokemon gen did you play first'-syndrome, but it never felt as good as gen 2&3. Cool new pokemon, but many were new 3rd evolutions, creating less new interesting lines.

Nostalgic favorite, Platinum and BDSP make playing the original versions unnecessary.

Never seen anything about gen 4 before and playing through it was extremely fun, story was cool as hell, I think team galactic is a bunch of nerds and the layout of the region is one of my favorites. I was excited to try out contests because it was one of my favorite parts of gen 3, but I was a bit disappointed at this game's version simply due to the fact I had no accessories and it was a nightmare to win anything lol. Very excited to try Platinum in the future.

Guy who loves fire types disappointed to find very few new fire types.

Personal favourite Pokémon game from being a kid

Pearl was better. I'm totally not biased btw. (I owned Pearl first.)

I got this game at the age of like 7/8 for being in a local High School's musical that my mom was doing choreography for. It took me years to finish it completely but it was well worth the wait. While I will say I don't have as fond of memories of gen4 as a lot of other people, I will still never forget the Cynthia fight, and if for nothing else but that, this game will stay in my memory forever.

My first Pokémon game. Despite all it's shortcomings like having little fire Pokémon and the game feeling too slow it's a nice experience. The music makes me recall the times of old, especially Eterna City.

My introduction to the series and a staple

MY FIRST POKEMON GAME!!!! FOND MEMORIES!!! i wanna replay it, but it gets so slow and I've gotten so used to the auto exp share soz

Enough different from Platinum to have its own spot with Pearl.
