Like playing through a charming 3D animated family movie, pretty spectacle with a simple fun loop, could be a bit shorter
(Review from 2020) Really good game for co-op, with a few spots that were a bit frustrating. The puzzles were mostly good, as were some of the combat ideas. Definitely an improvement over Dark Moon!

Though the gameplay mechanics are simple, there is a lot of versatility to them. I thought the puzzles were interesting and inventive and occasionally challenging. I had fun with it. And just long enough that it doesn't overstay its welcome or feel stale.

Honestly one of my favorite Mario Games. It's got beautiful visuals, charming characters, and really fun gameplay. If you own a Switch, this is the perfect game to play on Halloween (or any other time, I don't care)

It's a very charming game - I just love every animation Luigi has - but it's let down by too much backtracking and the lack of a properly intuitive control system. You can either have weird tank control aiming on the second stick, which doesn't gel with camera relative movement on the left stick, or Smash TV style camera absolute aiming on the right stick that requires inconsistent gyro controls for the vertical axis. The latter worked better for me, but still didn't feel right.
A fun and silly game, but it could stand to be a bit shorter, the core gameplay loop doesn't quite hold up for the full extent of its runtime. I had to drop it when it started to get a bit too monotonous, but I had fun in those early hours.

Beautiful looking game, but I just did not love the gameplay. The conceit is silly and definitely just an excuse to do whatever they want (hotel but it has a desert floor?) but it was charming!
8.5/10. Carries same charm Dark Moon did. Even tho I do like it, how the hell did this sell like 13 million copies???
i found the game really fucking clunky a lot of the time
moving from area to area is such a slog
cuz luigi's getting frieghtened by anything that fucking moves
felt this especially hard during the mechanic ghost bossfight when everytime you knock him out you have to get out of the pool ring then luigi does a little animation
and then he moves without the slightest of urgency
if this game had a run button it would be so much better
the bossfights themselves are fun if not really really simple cuz of the rudimentery combat but it improves on Dark Moon by giving all the bosses unique designs
the level design is really good tho i enjoyed exploring most levels especially Twisted Suites

it's okay but not really as good as the first one, but def better than dark moon i'd say
