This review contains spoilers
So far I'd say this is by far the best piece of FFXIV up to this point. Not by a massive margin but it's defintley felt like the most well structured and well told story XIV has told.
I enjoy dragon politics and again XIV delivers, though before that the stuff with Minfila. It produced a very fun dungeon, showed what has become of Minfilia and gave the cast some questions to think upon. I'm really loving Alphinauds continued development and how he's trying to figure himself out and the relationship he has with the WoL is very cute.
Y'shtola has some cool moments but Thancred is where's it at here in terms of the Scions. He's got some great stuff here and he's defintley my favourite scion after this patch (If you don't include Tataru that is) he's a very funny character and a few lines of his dialogue here are the most funny the game has been to this point. His character is also just given way more depth and his relationship with Minfilia and the scenes he has with (the boy I forget his name) are great. I also never realised Thancred was so old but I'm really invested to seeing where his plot goes. Here already he already got me invested in his character and showed way more of his character in these 5 hours than he has throughout the rest of the game... which uhh probably shows that XIV sucked at character development pre Heavensward, though there were a few exceptions.
Quests were all fun and there were a couple fun onese like the Melee and the Dungeon like I said. Music continues to be stellar, VA work was also amazing, though there were one or two vas that I thought were iffy, especially the (boy who fucks shit up)s manservant, his va was not good. Everyone else though was great.
I'm really enjoying the questions being brought up here and how they're being answered, some cool stuff all round. Again there's alot of stuff that would rely on good payoff but even without the need for payoff this story was great. Really loved this patch. the best XIV has had to offer so far
