It's good, it's very good but I can't shake the feeling that I played a different game than everyone else. The music, character design, and sprite work are all outstanding but I just didn't find the story that compelling. It's fine, it's not bad but it's pretty standard JRPG fare as far as stories go, time travel aside I've seen these beats before and I just wasn't fully sucked in. Same with combat, it's good but it's pretty standard. The characters are likable enough but once I found a party comp I liked I rarely switched so I never really got to interact with the other characters that much. I don't know maybe it was hyped up too much so I was expecting something Earth-shattering. It's really good but it didn't exactly leave me clamoring to play it again.

Was a fun game that didn't waste any time, the combat was enjoyable and didn't feel as if it bogged down or slowed down, except for some areas where it felt like enemies were spammed. None of these characters necessarily touched me as a person, leaving me with no real opinion on the narrative. It's tight, it's cohesive, and it has some fun twists but nothing really memorable about it. The tech system however is amazing, dual techs, triple techs, and everything of the like is great. Only complaint I have about it is that it feels really easy to overgrind and make the game a cake walk for majority of it just by wanting to max out every characters techs. Even then, Lavos was a fun challenge, and Robo was the best.

Admittedly I was a little skeptical entering this game, I wasn't sure it would be for me. However I was absolutely blown away by it. The writing and the atmosphere hit all the right notes for me, and the gameplay is pretty fun too! This game definitely inspires me to branch out to more JRPGs.

Please play Chrono Trigger, it's a masterpiece.

Chrono Trigger turned me into a "they don't make 'em like they used to" 30+ year old Ancient Gamer for my entire playthrough. I've got the green Zelda shirt and cargo shorts locked in my Amazon cart as we speak

O MELHOR JRPG QUE JÁ JOGUEI.
Bizarro como esse é atemporal, em qualquer momento que você jogar, ele nunca vai ser cansativo.

RPGs are my favorite genre of video games and Chrono Trigger is easily one of the greatest RPGs ever made. The gameplay is fantastic, the graphics are great, the time travel mechanic is wonderful, the music is amazing, etc. This game is often compared to Final Fantasy VI since it came out after and was released by the same company, Square. I personally like Final Fantasy VI more but Chrono Trigger is better in pretty much every way except the story is more basic. That aside, Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest games ever made and is certainly one of my favorites.
