When I heard Phigros was completely free, my first cynical reaction was that it must be free with in-app purchases, or free with ads, or free while mining bitcoin, etc. But no, it is a completely free rhythm game featuring a bunch of indie EDM artists. (I've seen some players purchase the devs' other paid game purely to support their work on this one.) The charts are done with incredible attention to detail: easy charts are more straightforwardly "gimmicky", while the harder difficulties include interesting patterns and techniques. On top of that, there are plenty of hidden songs and annual April Fools jokes that elicit the same joy as an ARG. It's a brilliant little game with a lot of love put into it--and as it's free, there's really no downside to checking it out.

The only drawbacks are (1) if you're trying to follow the alleged "plot," a lot of the unlockable documents are not translated (makes sense, that's a huge time sink for a free game), (2) it takes ages to unlock all the singles, (3) no cloud save unless you have a Bilibili account (or use outside-of-the-box methods).

oh god i fucking love this game

Literally how is this free what the hell. This is easily one of the best rhythm games I have ever played. It leans into modcharting-esque level design while still feeling consistently readable. Every single level is "wacky judgement line and/or notes do unexpected thing" but you learn over time how to read these levels from playing more and more, and everything falls into place. Not to mention, the wackiness is appropriately scaled to the difficulty - while keeping most of the magic of the level's design intact.

This game is SO fun and you have zero excuse to not play it because its ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FREE. Go play it NOW if you like rhythm games.

phigros will always be iconic for being 100% f2p and still somehow getting a fucking SAKUYZO ORIGINAL??? HOW?????

Yep, completely free. You just need to grind for the selection of music it has. The songs here are pretty unpopular, which gives you an introduction to new and fun artists to listen to. A unique laneless gameplay, too! The charts are fun and gimmicky without it having to try hard, definitely worth a try.

one of my favorite mobile rhythm games TBH, challenging in a way thats fun and refreshing.

Absolutely incredible rhythm game. Might be my GOTY.

Interesting and esoteric rhythm game with a dynamic judgement line that sometimes moves and rotates. Sometimes, it's judgement lines.

Lots of aspiring niche musicians in the songlist, along with some familiar names.

My only real complaint is the scoring system. I do not like combo bonuses in rhythm games. In this case, 90% of your score comes from note accuracy and the remaining 10% come from max combo. This often leads to incidents where one loses a whole letter grade because they missed one note in the middle, and it ends up being more punishing than missing 5 notes near the start or end. There is an "accuracy" rating shown next to the score but it's de-emphasized and there's no explicit notification for when you beat your accuracy record (unlike when beating a score record), so the game doesn't quite incentivize pushing on even after a missed note.

how is this game free (for the 12768746647th time)

I fricking love this game like its just a better version of piano tiles. Not a fan of the new game the devs made.

Ridiculously exciting and creative chart design with a soundtrack that's....passable. In terms of raw charting it's the best rhythm game I've ever played, but it has a weirdly grindy song unlock system for a game that's totally free and a whatever story.

i'm sorry i dropped you 🙏
