I love a good sandbox game. This is a good sandbox game. It's not even done yet, and there's still enough to do that I feel compelled to run it again and again. The building system is also very nice to work with, even if it's missing some QoL features like snapping furniture to building geometry because I get sandbox OCD.
For the almost two months I played this game it was a fantastic time, especially with a group of friends. The gameplay loop, unfortunately, becomes a little stale after a while and I imagine it would have become worse had I continued playing. It needs a more defined goal to sustain longer playtimes.
It's somehow still in Early Access as of this writing, which seems a bit concerning, but maybe when it fully releases I'll head back in and play again. Hopefully it'll have a more fleshed out campaign-style mode by then.

A well made open world survival game. Fun and good setting with simple but good visuals.
Pros:
- Open world done well - Great exploration
- A steady building of power as you defeat each boss and unlock new gear/resources
- The food/drink mechanic makes the survival element relevant whilst not being a pain, a truly fantastic implementation
- fun intense combat that is more than button mashing, without being frustrating
Cons:
- Its a viking setting, but not much world building. It is done entirely through the stones you can read. It's interesting but not present enough to make a lasting impression.

Here's the thing with Valheim: It's still incomplete. Much like Palworld at present, Valheim also exploded in popularity the moment it released due to its PS1-esque graphics, a progression that resembles Terraria, Nordic housing and big, big Vikings.
It's a bit hit or miss, and it's still lacking some of the biomes even until this day, but you get what you signed up for, save the fact that construction still gets to be a crapshoot if you use too many items, thus discouraging anything larger than a village.
