Just barely takes the spot for best Animal Crossing in my eyes. It’s missing a couple key features from the series, like better holidays and more shop upgrades, but the amount of customization in this entry almost makes up for their absence.

one of the most cozy games i've ever played. i remember cheating with treasure islands and ruining my enjoyment.

My Quarantine game, I'm sure the other Animal Crossing games are better, but i really like this one. Suck it. It's cozy.
Looking back from the hype, this was actually pretty barebones compared to new leaf.
Nintendo really captured the calm vibe of animal crossing with this game- I would play but progress is slow and very tedious

I realized after trying to get back into this that I just don't like New Horizons. It's entirely built around tedium and I just don't enjoy having to make the same tools over and over, nor do I enjoy having to grind out resources to shape up my Island. For some reason whatever profile starts the game owns the island for the rest of the users too? Which wouldn't necessarily be a problem if it meant you could still contribute to the game's progression, but you can't unless you're the founding user.

The villagers lack a lot of personality in this entry, but the customization options are amazing.
This has been a great way to bond with my partner over the last few years.
Wish more content came out throughout the switch's life but this was my obsession during COVID

This game is known well as the pandemic game, bringing all of us together for virtual fun when we couldn't meet in person. I also, though, wanted to highlight just how far of a step forward this game took for the Animal Crossing series. New Horizons truly put you into the driver's seat with regard for customizing your town, and for the first time, truly became a game you could play for hours each day instead of minutes.
I just wish the game was officially supported with updates for longer.
