man i really don't like hard games lmao, this just about drove me to the point of insanity. great fun and a good tough genuine challenge. the humour doesnt really do it for me, though. also, i kinda found the controls hard to grapple with and get used to which made it so that when shit got tougher in the later worlds i felt like my patience was being tested more than my skill.
If I’m being honest rage games aren’t really my thing. Most of them nowadays feel like they’re chasing a trend, but the biggest issue they have is not being fun. Super Meat Boy is a pretty rare case where its purposeful and unfair difficulty is still mostly fun. I think the controls could be better and the later levels began to get a bit too hard, but you can tell the care they put into this and I respect the hell outta what this game did do gaming as a whole.
The first half of the game is really fun, it's tough but fair, fun to speedrun and whatnot
The second half, not so much, I just find a lot of the stages after a certain point to be annoying, mainly the gimmicks they introduce, those gravity orb things that are propper awkward to use, certain enemies are well annoying, etc., there's still fun levels sure but I feel the game is at its best when you can be more reckless, as meat boy and the other characters are fun to control, but the second half requires a lot of precision, like frame perfect movement. The bosses were decent and there's lots to do.
Overall a classic indie game that I think you should give a shot, I may not like it as much as I remember, but it was still a decent time nonetheless.
