The most classic rogue-like. Challenging, fun, and oozing with content. It took me ~370 hours to complete all the content this game had to offer. Each run offers new opportunities, new items, new synergies. The more you play, the more you unlock. This leads to borderline addictive gameplay. Truly an exceptional game.
Fun rogue-like game with LOTS of variety when it comes to items, pickups, rooms, etc. Items all have their own uniqueness from each other and the game itself has a good balance in difficulty. Every so often, you unlock something new to play with and test out, such as beating a certain boss with a certain character, meeting a quota, and so on. This game when it comes to replayability is almost infinite, no run is the same. You will have lots of runs where you aren't too strong, but others where you are. It's so satisfying to obliterate everything that comes in your way when you get a good run. It will take you lots of hours to complete the game alone, because 'completing' the game requires you to unlock Dead God, which is unlocked from unlocking every other achievement, on all 3 save files. Right now I haven't played it much, but I've still sunk loads of hours into it.
Originally picked up Rebirth in 2017 alongside Afterbirth and kinda forgot about it until 2022 when I had seen some of my friends play it after the Repentance DLC dropped. It blew me away how much stuff had changed since I had last played so I got all of Edmund's games in 2022 when there was a huge sale. I then grinded this game for the whole duration of 2022, on and off for at least like 5-6 hours a day.
By the end of 2022 I had gathered around 700~ hours on record and not once did I feel burnt out on this game. I was addicted for the whole duration.
Prolly the only game that I can play for that long and not feel burnt-out.

Ok, this has to be the most playtime I have on any game, and I both love it and hate it for that. It's not even my favourite roguelike anymore, as something else has taken its place, but I have a lot of good memories of playing this in lessons at school rather than paying attention. It is a great game that is a bit too addictive. Repentance reignited my interest in it completely, as it is an excellent DLC.
I wonder what would have happened if I'd paid attention at school though...
