goofy lil game from memory

Probably not as fun today due to how derivative it seems, but underneath is a decently working game with a couple of nice challenges. Just be careful of the difficulty spikes.

Vexx makes Shadow the Hedgehog look like Super Lucky's Tale.

Increíble juego de plataformas bastante exigente

I initially tried this out from a suggestion, but from all the other games coming up and not being on the best state of mind I struggled to keep my attention until later I varied up my streaming list to keep things interesting.

Because of this I intend to come back to this later and give it a real try.

Gameplay + Streaming

Controls kinda suck. It was like this close to being a great game. Interesting level design, but holy crap the water levels suck and the camera is god awful in some places.

Vexx is the edgy 3D platformer of this generation of consoles and its very funny how cool it wants to be. It's pretty unremarkable otherwise.

One of the most criminally underrated games, imo. This looked gorgeous at the time of release and still is one of the best looking games of its generation. I know this will never happen, but a modern HD remaster of this would look beautiful. I can see the 3edgy5me aspect that it gets criticized for, but that never occurred to me until seeing other people say it. It definitely has that early-00s vibe, but I dunno, really doesn't bother me.

Gets brutally difficult if you're going for 100%, but to just beat it, it's not too bad... except for the final boss fight. Man, that guy is difficult. The 100%ing difficulty is a blessing and a curse, because my god, getting some of those tougher ones can be infuriating, but feels so rewarding to finally get it right.

I love the world and level designs. All the variety and theming is cool. On top of that, each level has it's own smaller areas with different challenges. Not all of those fully fit in with their respective level, but it's still cool and feels like you're discovering lots of neat secrets from exploring.

The combat isn't too diverse, but I think it's fun enough and feels good enough to where it's still fine. Camera has some of that early-3D jank, that's one of my biggest complaints. Story could be a better, or at least a little more to it. I'm mostly nitpicking here, because there's nothing in it that justifies such a low rating or it being forgotten, but there is enough to keep it from getting a perfect score. I dunno, I do want to play it again, it'd be nice to reassess it. I wonder how I'd feel if I didn't do a 100%, but I just know I would because I'd want to keep playing it as long as possible.
