Amazing game after the 2.0 update and the DLC. I've 100% it now but I will one day come back!

Started writing down some points to make a review from, but why not just post the points? In total, disappointing. I definitely did not have hype like people did before the original release, but I had just expected something more special. Still had fun, so not a terrible score.

+ Cool (and beautiful) world
+ Looks great
+ Good characters
+ Nice premise

+- Pretty nice skill tree, but multiple levels for another 10% always feels bad
+- Driving doesnt feel fast but decently smooth, vehicular combat is very easy
+- Characters leaving you voicemails during the credits is nice, but some seem disjointed from the ending I chose?
+- Skill system being separate from perks and ability scores is interesting, but expgain for those quite slow, and for for instance netrunner it would be best to just ping every random npc you can while walking around to get the exp going.
+- Clothing stats were mostly moved to cyberware, but then some items still have a slight stat on them, and theres a purely cosmetic slot too? Why both these systems?

- Boss fights suck big time
- Very little incentive to delve into the game's systems, as normal combat is super easy (played on hard). Cyberpsychos are the only inbetween early on, but quickly also become 2-shots.
- Terrible decision to only have 1 quickslot for all grenades, cyber abilities etc. Limits combat variety.
- Gun description is really vague. I slotted out a new gun because it had good stats, but it turns out it shoots two bullets at once (with terrible accuracy for the second shot due to recoil), which wasnt mentioned anywhere?

I played this on release and boy was it some hot garbage. I'm happy to see it's grown into what everyone wanted it to be. It wasn't perfect. There was way too much pointless content. So many gigs. Some of the main story quests felt pointless too. A lot of dead ends that didn't amount to anything. Where this game excels though is in it's world building and character connections. I've never wanted to live in a place more than I do Night City. And given how much of a cesspit it is that's a big compliment.

i did not play much of the game pre-2.0 but i do remember the jankfest it was

now with 2.0 out, honestly yeah this is easily one of the games ever. playstyles are actually a thing now. the game feels great to play

with regards to the story, well everyone's got their own opinions on it. personally, i went for panam's ending, and never touched the game afterwards. as weird as it sounds, V's whole situation felt too fucking close to home with how my life has been going so far, and the game has affected me emotionally as a result.

it didn't feel right to continue the game anymore after what is possibly the best ending of the game, and the best outcome for V. i didn't want to ruin the things the game made me feel in that ending, during judy's quests.

i go slightly more into detail about it in my PL review, but yeah. this one will be remembered, at least to me.

Keeping this one relatively brief since I wanted to split this one and Phantom Liberty. If you didn't like 2077 initially I don't feel like this update will do much but if you're someone like me who did enjoy it you will end up LOVING it. 2.0 is one of the best overhauls I've seen for a game in a long time, perfectly changing the systems involved to make the experience so much more fun. The skills in particular feel so much better utilized and not the grindy mess they were in OG, and the revamped stats make progression feel so much smoother. If I had to say my only flaw it'd be with the changes to the quick items, as both grenades and health being pseudo unlimited kinda fucks with the balance and makes them a bit OP. Besides that I've been having a blast revisiting Night City and its all thanks to the wonderful 2.0 Update.

9.5/10

Maybe I just run the game with too many mods to begin with, but I really did not notice too much of a difference between the update playthrough & a normal one. Game is still an exceptional modern open world game (though my criticisms of bloat, sameiness & getting sick of the aesthetic still hold true personally) but I really did not notice a big sea change with this.

visuals, characters and overall writing is just mega peak. also i really love the music references in the quest titles. anyway, i love johnny, jackie & panam [+ judy, river & rogue too ofc... kerry was ight]

Incredible come back. Tried the game on the initial launch and gave up after a handful of hours. Happy I gave it another try.

Fixes everything and adds so much stuff its pretty much another game still not as amazing the anime makes people believe it is.

This is a review for the 2.1 version of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 was arguably one of the most anticipated games of all time, and unfortunately, it launched in an unfinished state, making it a very disappointing release for many people.
Personally, I liked the game since launch, however, I always acknowledged its flaws.
One thing most people agreed on even when the game initially came out, is that its story is great, and that's true. Unfortunately, it's also pretty short in my opinion, but it's very intriguing nonetheless.
The characters are great too; Johnny in particular actually impressed me, and the side-characters are amazing as well.
The gameplay is a bit basic but very enjoyable nonetheless and it has adequate amount of depth, even if the A.I. can be dumb at times.
The world is fantastic; Night City is one of my favorites places in a videogame, period, and most of the side-quests are awesome, just like in The Witcher.
Also, the visuals are gorgeous and the music is incredible.
Unfortunately for the game though, even after the improvements of the 2.1 update, Cyberpunk 2077 is still not the game that was promised to be; it lacks meaningful dialogue options and side-activities, and the life-paths are still irrelevant.

Pros:
+ Compelling story
+ Lovable and engaging characters
+ Fun and varied gameplay
+ Night City is absolutely spectacular
+ Wonderful quest design

Cons:
- Short storyline
- Meaningful dialogue options
- Lack of side-activities

Narrative: 8/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Content: 9/10
Characters: 9/10
Music: 10/10
Graphics/Audio: 9/10

Final Rating: 9/10
- Amazing -
I can safely say that Cyberpunk 2077 finally feels finished; it plays like a proper modern Open World RPG with very interesting narrative and characters, highly enjoyable gameplay and an amazing world filled with meaningful content, however, it's still not the "next generation RPG" game that was promised to be.

Do I recommend it?:
Highly recommended for people who own PC/PS5/Xbox Series X/S.
At low price for PS4 and Xbox One owners.

Mano Esse Jogo é Mt Pica, Amei demais.

I'm really glad I waited so long to try this one. With the 2.0 update, the game is very fun and feels mostly polished. Still issues in some areas but overall, it feels like a nice blend of Bethesda-RPG and Rockstar-open-world. I will definitely be playing more in the future. I haven't rolled credits so maybe I'll continue with my character or start a new one.

Is the bar so low on gaming that a game still full of bugs and a shallow open world is somehow considered fixed and a great comeback?

The greatest game ever made. Down from the immersive and expansive night city to the incredibly memorable and loveable characters. The story is also top tier. Overall a joy to play and a great game to keep coming back to

I really want to like this game but I can't. The protagonist is an arrogant asshole and always has the wrong thing to say. The gameplay seems kinda fun but still feels like a far cry game where you go from base to base and kill dumbass NPCs. I like that you can be naked and no one gives a shit. Rip Jackie. May come back to this game on PC where the controls don't feel like ass (PS5 controls like shit)

a simply fantastic game along with an excellent update that fixes the problems it had all of that time ago and revamps them all completely

I originally played Cyberpunk when it first came out and was one of the most bug-ridden games I have ever seen going back to it 4 years later i would've never expected the amount of love, change and detail that has gone into making nightcity look and feel like a proper well city

I'm a huge fan of the npc interactions the different events on the map you can do and the people you can meet and have a potential relationship with, i chose panam if anyone is wondering

the gun combat is incredibly solid and might be the best example of how to do guns and weapons correctly in video games, I cant quite tell you how much I was using a samurai sword or was simply using a gun to either slash or shoot through an enemy with accurate precision

the story alongside this might be one of the best i have ever had the honor to play through I'm being serious here when i think its one of the most well crafted stories in video game history its just that good

honestly I'm in love with this title and cant wait to see more from the universe eventually I'm going onto phantom liberty next where my expectations will probably be shattered even more an excellent game from an amazing genre of media yeah like this one greatly

5/5

I loved the game, simply loved it, the main story was good, the side quests were very, very good, the music, the gameplay, the combat, and everything.
The only thing is that I had grinned wayy too much before the final mission so like it wasn't a challenge at all for me at that point.
I loved the game, truly amazing, would recommend everyone to try.

Gonna go back to get the other endings but my body my choice Johnny!

One of the most immersed I’ve felt playing video games. Felt extremely connected to the character and the story. Gameplay mechanics are pretty satisfying and make you feel like a badass. Became the game it was meant to be (or close to) originally after the 2.0 update

even though CDPR's reputation as a business is gone for good in my eyes, the amazing storytelling chops of their writers are as clear as ever with this gem of a game and Phantom Liberty. really glad I didn't skip it entirely after the 2020 heartbreak (when I narrowly avoided a PS4 pre-order and felt so betrayed, I removed the game from my radar entirely)

the (new) gameplay is silky smooth, the world is absolutely amazing, the first person camera and real-time cutscenes (THAT YOU CAN FAST FORWARD <3) were more effective in sucking the player in than I could have anticipated and the characters - especially V, surprisingly - are amazingly well-rounded.

3 well-managed years can do a lot for a game and for a company. so you know, CDPR is dead, long live CDPR
