This is a review for specifically the SNES version. I’m pretty sure the arcade is just Hyper Fighting with a different name.
This might be my most nostalgic game. I still remember the day my dad found his old SNES and showed it to me. There were only 2 games for it, Super Mario World and this, and while I liked Super Mario World, nearly every time I booted up that console, I played this instead. I remember all the hours I spent trying to pull off a hadoken, or how no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t beat the game on a difficulty above 2 stars. If it wasn’t for this game, I probably wouldn’t even be on this website.
The main reason I started this marathon was to get better at Street Fighter, and more specifically, to finally be able to beat this game on 4 stars. All those years later, I finally did it! It wasn’t as hard as I was expecting too, only took me 26 battles. Maybe one day I’ll beat this on 5 stars…
I want to give this a 10/10 but I’m pretty strict with the games I give that honour to. Still, I love this game.
