Metroid-vanias are an interesting bunch, being a genre that some people never want to touch with a 39 1/2 foot pole, whereas some people find them to be their bread and butter. Ori proved to be a great game, the only other Metroid-vanias I've played were Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Metroid Prime, and this game felt so much smoother than those. It felt like I was constantly making progress, and every upgrade I got felt like it would break the platforming in the game, but the world is built in such a way that they didn't.
Goes without saying, game looks phenomenal, especially for a unity game.
Was not a slog, as so many others in the genre are. I got the 100% mark after 10 hours flat.
This game benefits greatly from quick respawns, this game expects you to die to random bullshit. You set your own save points though, so you can make the game as easy or challenging as you want, pretty much.
Overall, pretty game, brief game, but by no means an easy game. Worth the 20 bucks.
