Let's start by saying that I value gameplay more than story in games. The game part of this video game is fantastic. The gameplay, the weapons, the new enemies and some of the setpieces are astounding. The Underground Subway, the fight in the basement of the Hospital, the escape from the Seraphite village. Stealth was fun and i had a blast skulking just trying to beat encounters without being seen. Not to mention that it runs like a dream.

Now let's get to the bad. I kinda get what they were trying to do. First showing you a series of events and then challenging to change your opinion by showing you the other side. The problem is that it doesn't work at all when the writing is so biased into showing you what the writers want you to believe.

ND wrote Ellie into such a deranged character without many of the things that made her character charming to begin with. Which would be fine, but the way they wrote Abby to counteract this makes it worse.

Speaking of Abby, they try so hard to make you like her that it's comical. She's really a good person, guys! She loved her dad, did you know? She's saving Lev, look how kind she is! She can't be a bad person just because she did what she did at the star of the game, right? Her friends are so kind. Ellie is ditching her friends and putting them in danger, Abby wouldn't do that!

Even then i didn't really dislike her that much, but the writing bias towards her was clear from the moment you play with her. Not to mention that her gameplay section, as many have said feels like a giant sidequest while there's another, much more interesting plot happening right beside it. All of this leads to an ending with a poor climax that feels nonsensical.

At the end of the day this is great videogame with a middle of the rood revenge story that tried to do something bold but didn't land the execution at all.
