I started to play Sonic out of the curiosity because of the overall hype around the game: bad reviews from Truly Mature Journalists, and the adoration of normal gamers. I was interested in why. But eventually, I got one of the best games of 2022 so far.

Honestly, I was pretty tired from Open World games, but here that concept fits so organically, that I'm actually thinking, about how people were playing Sonic without Open World before (yes, I didn't play any Sonic games before, maybe that's why my rating is so high).

I've seen some comparisons with Death Stranding. Well, in my opinion, there is only green grass and grey rocks from Death Stranding 😅 Which means nothing. I would compare this game with some mix of Breath of the Wild and Talos Principle. Where from the first you have tiny little cute creatures and from the second the mystery of the world and from both the Open World, Temple-Puzzle structured world, and the feeling of loneliness. + at the top is a bit of Shadow of Colossus, where with all that mystery you have huge giants that you need to defeat.

I actually was surprised by the enemies, since the combat system was okay. The mini-bosses here and titans are great. They are various, they are different, with different feelings from combat.

I actually liked everything in that game except parts of the platforming, when you boost. Then it is not super clear, how you can cancel that. I couldn't find it and because of that time to time, it was really hard to jump onto the exact platform.

Yes, from time to time there was a feeling of something cheap and unpolished, but hey, I bought this game on the Christmas sale for 32 CHF. And for that money it totally worth it!
