Pretty different from what Championship Edition set out to do with Pac-Man, so I get why some people are a little more down on it than others. It's also a lot flashier, so it's easy to get the impression that the only reason this version gets more attention is that the numbers get bigger and the screen makes more colors, but this is honestly a great game. It's all about optimizing your "run" as much as possible, staying focused on the changing objective while things get faster and faster, and more wrenches get thrown into the mix. It has less spontaneity than CE, as it has less of an emphasis on roaming ghosts, and at times it really only tangentially feels like Pac-Man, but it's a great thing to play in short bursts. The amount of different boards that are actually fun is also an improvement over the original. Overall, both deserve to be regarded as great games, even if I believe CE is a better take on the gameplay of Pac-Man.
